Hi all, I have an X1C with an AMS1. I’m about to order the H2D AMS 2 Combo. I had intended to keep my AMS1 with the X1C but see that you can only hook 1 AMS up each extruder on the H2D. I’m curious if there is any way to easily be able to switch an AMS between the two printers, or if buying another AMS is only real solution.
Get a spare PTFE and a spare cable, and switch just the AMS unit between the two? Or do you mean use 1 ams in 2 printers? thats impossible with human intervention.

I assume you meant impossible without human intervention? And yah I’m seeing that. Maybe I’ll just suck it up and buy another AMS 2. My H2D can have two AMS 2’s and I’ll keep the original AMS with the X1C. I thought about buying the AMS HT, but it seems pointless to spend 160 for a single spool dryer when I can get one for a third that and put the money towards the full AMS.
Yeah , without*. Personally I just bought couple more AMS for the rest of the bambus, more for easier filament management , rather than multicolour
yah I think I will jsut buy a second AMS 2 for the H2D but someone on FB Just sent me this link to a kit for the original AMS that supposedly allows it to heat, and at the same time as printing! IF this is legit I don’t understand why BL didn’t do this for the original AMS and add heat and print simultaneously with the AMS 2
Because money, and they need to show some progress , instead of working again and again on old models (creality style) . Plus the new ams , in my opinion is superior to the old one. Smoother motors, better rollers, better guides, faster changes. I would stay away from the HT tho, I just dont see the reason, especially with the complains that it doesnt reach the advertised temperature and leaks moisture inside.
Yah but that doesn’t explain why not make the AMS 2 heat and print at the same time? And I think financially it makes sense to have an upgrade kid for the original because there are so many people out there who own them and might not want to buy the new AMS 2 pro but would be willing to buy the upgrade. Thanks for letting me know about the HT though, I was debating getting that. I think I’ll get the H2D combo, an additional AMS 2, and maybe try out this heater upgrade for the original AMS. But man if the AMS2 could heat and print at the same time that would be the bees knees.
What materials do you plan to print? With most everyday ones you can pretty much get a 2 or 4 slot drier, dry them once and they will be good for weeks.
TBH I still have not used the dry function on my AMS2s as I print ABS primarily, but my filament storage is also a full size drier, so theres that.
