I printed these stackable jewelry boxes for my niece, but the bottom curve (upside down in pic) is a little rough. Is there any way to fix that or is it just the current state of printing? I’m really new to this so I’m never sure if something is fixable or just how it is.
Take a look in Bambu Studio (BS) and the preview tab after slicing and change the view to line type.
See if the area of problems coincides with a section of blue overhangs (look at the legend).
It is possible that area is too steep to print without supports given the complex angles that occur at the twisting spirals as they wrap around an elongated curve of an ellipsoid.
It shows some little blue dots, but they’re at the point where it transitions from straight base to curve, way below where that occurs.
Can you show a screenshot?
Maybe the model.
Looks like it’s too steep an angle at that point for a neat overhang. Don’t know what nozzle size and layer height/line width you are using but smaller might help with the overhang. Try variable layer height?
I just printed a small section of the model I think you are printing (Jewelry Box Stackable Curvy by Art Design. 3D - MakerWorld)
I did one at 0.20 Standard settings (left of picture) and one at 0.08mm Extra Fine (right of picture). At 0.08 the overhang is much smaller so it is cleaner
As mentioned, angle too near horizontal. It needs extra support. Go to support settings, and increase ‘threshold angle’.
I was printing at .1mm. I’ll try .08 and if that doesn’t help add support I guess. I just assumed if it doesn’t show you need supports you don’t need them. Like I said I’m new at this though!
