Hopefully, Bambu Lab will at some point start putting this information on the refill stickers and/or filament spools going forward … especially the filament code and color.

Have you tried with an iPhone? Mine doesn’t seem to recognize the NFC tags on the spools
They are cheap, but I already have a label printer and just wish this software would recognize my printer I already have. 
I was just going to post this very question but luckily searched first and found this. All I want is like yourself to be able to scan a spool and find out what it is without having to load it in the AMS just to find out! Initially since I dealt with so few colours I was able to keep track but now I find myself with lots of part used spools and of course no way of knowing what specific colours they are. I find it odd that Bambu give you a little sticker to attach to a spool but that just tells you the type of filament, it would be so much more useful if it also said the colour!

indeed, but this would need many stickers, while the current system is simpler for BBL
using a permanent marker for a manual addition of the color is the cheap solution 
Ah yes but that’s only any good going forward with new spools, I want a way to check all those part used spools I have bagged up that at the time I didn’t think I’d need to worry about what they were!
I get your concern : as soon as the number of bags grow up, a way to “read” the content without opening them would be useful
if I’m correct, the flipper zero suggestion above should allow you to get the content of BBL RFID tags
not sure if it can get the RFID from other makes (Anycubic has ome tags, but of course different from the BBL)

The AMS now identifies the color code of the bambu filament. No more guessing.
It just misses the point where it sends the information to the printer ?

It can read any RFID tag (at least, I’ve yet to run in to a tag it couldn’t read).
But someone would have to write the software to interpret the data, like someone did for BBL tags.
Raw data, though, you can probably get, now.

You can use the tags in automations, still. They work to trigger the “When [NFC tag] is detected” step. NFC reader apps don’t seem to work (expected).
I have been using NFC tags with my printer, and I like how the filaments are auto-recognized. I wanted to make the NFC tags more useful. I created an iPhone app to inventory all my filaments and keep track of the prints I have made. It is finished and waiting for Apple’s approval. It can read and write NFC tags. You can also take a screenshot or picture of the print preview in Orca and import the print details using AI. I am always open to suggestions for other features, too. It just got approved by Apple today. I tried to post some screenshots, but I am new to the Bambu forum, so it wouldn’t let me. It is called FilaSpool. I will post some screenshots and a link once Bambu decides to let me.
I just got a Flipper and installed the plugin, it only shows the code, not the name of the color. I noticed a firmware fix in the GitHub folder, did you have to install that as well?
You do not need to update the firmware. It was only there for compilation.

I don’t know if this has been mentioned but I’ve been trying MO RFID and seem to be reading the Bambu tags on my old Samsung Phone.
I had to down load the apk for it.
Still not available in the store 
You have to download it manually and install it. Tell phone to allow 3rd party apps.
I think its only in China at the moment.
It works on my Samsung mini and my Samsung flip 5.
