I know there are tons of models with middle fingers raised, and, yes, I agree most are quite juvenile. I saw some in the April Fools Day contest, so I decided to put a hand with a middle finger hidden inside a slinky. Yes, I know, it’s juvenile, but I figured someone might find it funny.
Now Bambu has blocked it for violating some Community Guideline–they don’t seem to want to tell me what one. Thus, I’m left to guess or ask here. I assume that the middle finger was deemed inappropriate, but there are TONS of models with middle fingers.
I don’t mind that the model was hidden, but I would like to know which guideline was violated. If they want to hide all models with middle fingers, that’s fine with me. But being apparently singled out is annoying.
You’ve almost certainly been reported by competitors who have similar models. By now the site is clogged with the equivalent of street corner beggars. They kick you because you’re taking up their space
I thought I had, but I don’t see a place to check or change that. Maybe I should just resubmit and see what happens. But I don’t want to get on some naughty list.
The community guidelines mention vulgar language twice, as prohibited things. Most people consider the middle finger to be a vulgar expression. It is not something that one sees in polite company.
Instead of trying to take the moral high ground here, maybe read what I actually wrote. Search for “middle finger” in MakerWorld, and you will get hundreds of results, many of which are not marked NSFW.
The ENTIRE point of my post was that it seems the rules aren’t being applied uniformly, unless I’m missing something. My hope is that I was simply missing something, because having the rules applied arbitrarily is really bad. Especially when Bambu Lab seems to be unwilling to explain their actions.
If yours wasn’t marked as NSFW, then it was also fair game for others to report it. MW doesn’t go out to find the violatioins, even though they should. They rely on user reporting a lot.
I wasn’t moralizing, I was just saying that there are those who consider the middle finger to be vulgar.
I would venture to guess that Bambu doesn’t arbitrarily apply the rules, but rather reacts to complaints. Recently there was a take down of hundreds of models where Hot Wheels was mentioned. Yet if one searches Hot Wheels on Maker World, one sees that there are more than a hundred models that mention Hot Wheels that are still on-line. If one checks the dates, on sees that the only ones still on-line were posted after November of last year, with none with an earlier date. This means that someone flagged the models in November and Bambu just recently acted on the flagged models.
That is to say that someone flagged your model, and possibly months ago, and that is why your model was taken down.
