ASA Question

Hello, very nice print, and as Gerrit said, you never know when things are going well.

So, based on your experience, could you explain how you managed to print the top part where the fillet is? Because I’m trying to print a 5mm fillet, and each time, the higher the layer height, the more the layers break down.

Here is a photo where you can see the layers of the fillet disintegrating, then in the vertical part everything is fine.

I see what you mean now. What’s the angle there? I can’t tell through the print errors.

The angle on my model is 45 degrees.

It’s a 5mm fillet

You need support on the first couple of layers. Preferably with specific support material.

Okay, thank you, I’ll try with a manual support.

Automatic support is probably easier here. I would start at least with a 45 degrees threshold.

This is luckily not an ASA issue.

This is a PiCNiC error :winking_face_with_tongue:

Yes, it turned into a small problem, but I never blamed the filament or the machine, but rather a problem coming from me that I couldn’t fix.

When design allows me, I use chamfers at the bottom. A small radius (1mm) might work with the appropriate layer height, but a larger radius usually needs support.

I start with the ASA and proceed by small adjustments; it would be easy to modify my model, but I am stubborn and I want to succeed in printing this 5 mm fillet.

This so much. Radiused corners on the bottom are a great way to visualize limitations with overhangs. I also use chamfers on the bottoms where possible,
