ASA support material gap

I’d like to know what top Z gap others are using with the Bambu ASA support material. I’m printing parts with severe long overhangs and trying to obtain a smooth bottom surface, hence the ASA support material. I’m printing with Polymaker ASA on a P1S, bed 100 C. I have my top Z set to 0 with 3 interface layers. While the bottom surfaces come out sort of smooth, I’m getting significant adhesion between the Polymaker ASA and the Bambu ASA support material, so much so that when I peel away the support material , it rips off a couple of the ASA layers. I’m also experiencing poor bottom layer adhesions of the ASA material to itself on the supported overhangs resulting in just a series of unfused strings for at least 1-2 layers. I don’t get the material adhesion issue on the print bed. I’m using the smooth plate with PVA glue (glue stick) and do not experience any significant warping. I look forward to your insight

When you use dedicated support material, decrease the interface spacing (the X/Y pattern) and set the distance (Z) to 0.

As I mentioned, the Z distance was set to 0, but this resulted in the support material fusing to the print material. Not sure if it’s the specific formulation of the ASA from Polymaker vs the Bambu support material. I’d love to resolve this without wasting spools of material.

If it bonded, there’s something incompatible with the two filaments. It ought to stick a little, but should pop right off with a small amount of force.

I inadvertently discovered that ASA works as a support for Nylon. It’s likely the opposite is true.
