Add an “Any color” or “Safe to flush into” option to the “Paint” tool, as the “flush into object” is too broad, and often times “flush into support” and “flush into infill” doesn’t completely satisfy the flush amount.
This is all in an attempt to minimize waste (both time and material).
I know I could achieve this by breaking my model into many parts and assign the individual objects as “flush into object”, but I’m new to modeling and don’t know how / would love a stupid simple way to do this. So, one way to do it could be to add a “color”/option to the Paint tool that is “This color doesn’t matter”/“Flush into this portion of the object”
The thinking being, there are options to “flush into infill”, “flush into object supports”, and “flush into object”, but that doesn’t really allow for the user to say “This is part of the object and needs to be structural, but I don’t really care about the color since I know the model and it won’t be visible.”
Maybe, a different way to implement this could be to make a mode for the Paint tool that says ONLY the selected painted faces need to be the colors I’ve chosen, otherwise, it’s safe to use that as “flush”.
Where this all stems from, I have a model with two colors. I have “flush into infill” and “flush into object supports” turned ON, and the full print has 656 filament changes, and therefore a whole bunch of filament flushes and/or poops. I’d love to minimize this (for time and material cost) by being able to identify internal structures/faces that are a part of the “object”, but that are also safe to flush into.
