Attaching supports to a surface

Hi

Ive run into a problem where at a certain point in my print, the nozzle starts hitting so much of the infil that it rips the print away from the bed. I tried adding supports, but because the supports dont actually adhere to the surface of the print it doesn’t really help stop it being knocked off. Does anyone know how I can add supports that would add interface material to that sloped surface? Currently it just adds interface to the very top so doesn’t stop the piece getting ripped off.

Would anybody have any suggestions? Ive changed zhop to spiral but it never seems to do much for me that setting - its more of an issue with the nozzle crossing so much infill that it just majorly coliders :frowning: (nb. I really need to print it at this angle for the best results really)

thanks for any help!
Nick

Try gyroid or other infill. Rectilinear is jarring on model and print head because filaments cross and cause bumps. Gyroid and I’m not sure which others don’t do that. Quieter and easier on the printer. There are maybe some strength considerations but there was a recent post here that discussed how gyroid was actually pretty strong. Just search for gyroid. Good luck!

Can you share a couple of screenshots of the slicer with the model and supports in view (use the line type view).

Like @MZip mentioned, go for a non-crossing infill like Gyroid. I prefer plain Honeycomb, but that’s just me
The z-distance between support and model is in the support settings (just scroll down to adjust) wheres z-hop is is in the filament settings and won’t change supports.
Is it PLA or PETG? For PLA, the non-crossing infill should make a big difference. For PETG, you should also slow down a lot.

Thanks. Yeah I’ll try the gyroid and slow downs a bit. I’m using pla. I might try building in some supports as well to. To make sure it’s fixed to the bed more
