Automatic bed levelling

Hi All

I own a Bambulab A1 mini.

I am having serious bed levelling issues, it appears that the auto bed levelling isn’t working or isn’t able to work with my bed issues.

I ended up adding to the machine startup gcode a Z offset to of -0.16 and this pretty much resolves the issue.

Any idea what could cause this offset?
why doesn’t the auto bed levelling work? and if the offset is too big why not give me an error when automatic bed levelling?

I also noticed that by default the startup code has an offset of -0.02 for a textured plate.

Why can’t the auto bed levelling consider the plate as an additional offset in the auto bed levelling?

Can’t find any information about this.

Assumptions: bed plate clean: Clean the printing surface

  • What is the issue that you associate with faulty bed levelling?
  • Is the issue new?
    If so, can you recall precisely if some event may trigger it? e.g. firmware update, new or damaged bed plate;
    If not, you may need to manually tram your printer
  • What bed plate type are you using?
    Do you have any spare or different types to test it?

This is normal and has been like that since I remember: Textured PEI plate offset

It just started out of the blue

In between various prints.

The issue is that the nozzle isn’t close enough to the bed while extruding

I have no significant warp on the bed

Is there a valid way to verify the auto bed levelling even works?

Not really a way to verify but I know with the a1 and using pc slicer (orca or bambu) it will only bed level the area you need for the specific print. So I guess that’s sort of a way to see if it’s working at all.

Hi I could’t create a new topic, so I reply here as it seems related.
I’d like to print on plastic business card that I have. They are around 1 mm thick. Can I somehow achieve to make bed levelling with it?
My concern is that bed levelling will interpolate between high and low touch points. I thought covering whole heated bed with cards so all points will be similar however this is not practical.
What would be the better approach?
I also try to print on some other surfaces that are 10 mm thick is there anyway to tell to Bambu software/device work just around here, make bed levelling just here etc?

  1. Just print the whole business card instead of using plastic blanks?
  2. Use the pause function: design a locating perimeter that goes around the card, to the exact height of the card, then when the pause happens insert the card into the locating space and then hit resume, the print continues and goes onto the card.
