Thanks for this I tried it yesterday and it worked lets hope they don’t do a software update that checks the filament!! its a good way to use up ends of spools on things where crazy colours wont matter or could be useful.
Sorry to see this still isn’t addressed in firmware on the X1C. It would be extremely handy on the machine to have a dialog box pop up and say “Filament 2 is out. Would you like to finish with filament 4?”
There are lots of projects I run that are NOT cosmetic and I don’t care what color it is, but I’m much more bothered by all the time and filament wasted starting the print.

Hi, is there any news in this topic? Would be great to tell Bambu Studio to switch automatically to another AMS roll of filament, if the first is empty.
It does automatically. It may need to be enabled with a setting but if you have another spool that identifies as the same kind of filament that ran out, it should just switch over. Mine did it just a day ago.
I had tagged a spool of different manufacturer cyan with RFID tags from Bambu jade white. When my jade white ran out it switched over to the other spool of “jade white” before I could make it go manually and this happened. 
Had to stop the print and do it over. Nice effect though.

In Bambu Studio, on device page under the ams, there is auto refill button with a nut/gear icon next to it, click on it.

When is start to accumulate spools with 50g filament, I identify them as the same and I end them printing something I have to paint later. Optimization over 9000. Just label them as same colour and brand
It drives me mad that I have to wait 10 minutes and watch it purge out a fair amount of filament before it starts each print. It’s particularly annoying when you’re printing the same one-colour item over and again, seems to me that there’s no need to waste any at all except for perhaps purging the bit of filament that’s dried in the nozzle between prints, yet I end up with a bucketful every week for no apparent reason.
It’s even worse when you get a false start and the filament doesn’t stick to the plate, I’m having a big issue with that at the moment with one particular model which I have to restart 4-5 times before I get a successful first layer and I haven’t worked out why yet. There really needs to be a better way. It’s more about the time it takes up than the cost.
Yes. Like others mentioned. As long as each slot in printer is set ti same color and type it don’t matter what color in slot. I just wouldn’t set petg filament to or something like that. Actually put same type in each slot
