Is it possible to set more than a (pathetically low) 1000 mm/s^2 for the extrusion moves on the aux nozzle? It appears that the firmware is limiting it no matter what, but just wanted to check.
This is honestly nonsensical, seems like a deliberate handicap to push users to higher skew machines. Sure, its a fairly long bowden path from the extruder, but 1k acceleration??? That is ENDER 3 NUMBERS, like come on. The great bambu, pioneers of fast printers, are really insisting that 20 times lower acceleration on this is the “limit“ for their X series machine?
I dont even care if it gives me worse quality, I only want to control my machine. At least give it like 3 or 4k as a “draft“ mode..

Of course it’s terrible, its a 5-ish minute print. The point I’m making is that we most definitely have more headroom than a mere 1k acceleration with this setup in x2d
Disagree completely. It’s a simple Bowden extruder that has quite a far path to travel.
The acceleration set standard is pretty reasonable, let alone for an entire machine that has a heated chamber, a direct drive extruder with hardened nozzle, let alone all the other tech for $649.
A top of the line Bowden setup.., say from the likes of bondtech etc., is well over $100. Closer to $200 with a good modern pancake motor to boot. So essentially 1/3 the entire cost of the X2D.
What makes you think the one inside an X2D has all sorts of leg room to go much much faster with the same quality?
This isn’t a top of the line bowden setup, it’s just a basic one. It’s sloppy and leaves crumbles wisps and droplets on the plate/print, just like bowdens in an ender 3 did. Use it as an aux, some tiny accent, or dont.
I ran my klipper ender 3 with a bowden setup using a cloned bondtech gearset. 5k print acceleration was just fine with a manual tuned input shaper (= conservative) and pressure advance.
Fine, this has a path thats about 50% longer than on my setup, but thats why we have PA calibration.
Honestly I think this 1k limit BS exists because bambu somehow did not expect people to try and calibrate PA manually. I think that’s a bad assumptio to make when selling an “engineering material oriented printer“
P.s. I instead wonder how in the world do you think that bondtech prices are a representative example and why “modern“ pancake motors are superior. I can guarantee that this chonk of a nema 17 on the x2d has plenty more torque. And its geared down too lol.
If only you would have stayed with that you’d apparently have an amazing bowden setup! No idea why you got an X2D when you could have just used that BMG clone and had amazing quality
PS - I never said anything about the pancake motor being superior / bondtech etc., just that they are a good example of top end equipment (that various other manufacturers use because of it) and they are not cheap.

I guess answer this question. Do you really think Bambu would SEVERELY LIMIT the speed of an extruder unless it severely effects quality?
Do you think it’s a conspiracy?
Do you think the company that is trying to sell 3d printers are just doing things to underperform on purpose?
What exact purpose would that serve Bambu as a business? “Hi guys, we are slow…, but secretly our quality would be exactly the same if we ramped up our acceleration 5x over stock, but we won’t do because we are meanie heads”
I think the most logical answer is because in their extreme testing of filaments of all sorts, and printing of all kinds of things, the acceleration number they chose gave favorable, repeatable, quality prints.
I mean sure I expect some more stans than average present in this forum, but come on this is excessive.

At least I can easily conclude a very inexpensive, impressive, tech filled, dual nozzle printer that is limited to a certain speed on a very obviously cheap extruder with a ridiculously long filament path is because the company that made the above has quality issues going faster.
Least you could do is have an argument other than “whaaaaaaa”.
