What does this thing actually do, given that turning it off solves so many print problems?
The aux fan mounted in the left side of the chamber near the top.
It also doesn’t even move with the build plate.

Its there to provide additional cooling for small items that dont have enough time to cool between layers. Since the hot end does not move, neither does the fan, its always aimed at the top layer.
I printed a deflector and it helped a lot, I find I still have to turn it off for some prints or I end up with garbage layer adhesion
I am tempted to just unplug that fan
Indeed you rarely ever need it, BUT there were a few prints (mostly ABS and ASA) that I could only do with it - I tried many other solutions and the additional cooling was the only one. Also, they weren’t necessaraly small pritns overall, but pritns with small features.
As for the scrubber, I know people tend to love it, but I still think that if you want additional filtration you are better off w a Bentobox kind of solution on the right side.
I was quite engaged in the Kdeavi build plate when people were tryign to get it in the first place. How did actually perform? It looks great imo, but I wonder how it compared to the glacier/frostbite, which I already have.
Also, funny to see that Im not the only one that just throws the rpessure regulation lines on the bottom of the printer hehe
It’s a great plate! It’s functionally identical to your existing frostbite. They’re basically the same plate with a different color, and depending on the day they were made maybe a slightly different texture lol. It’s never let me down and it has a few thousand hours on it.

I wondered the same exact thing.
What I would expect from Bambu Lab is they decide when this is actually needed and activate it accordingly. Its a simple time-between-layers calculation surely?
If Layer print time < X = Fan on.
Could even be dynamic.
In the last few years all I do is disable the Aux fan in my material profiles. Caused nothing but warping for me.
