Since there is no limit on annoying, rude and nasty ‘makers’, how about implementing an unlimited number of ‘disliked’ makers? It makes no sense to limit what I don’t want to see, if you won’t limit the ■■■■ (seems that a simple 4 letter word that starts with a C and ends with a P is unsuitable for the forum) that is getting posted. (But middle fingers are always accepted)
Maybe someone wants to see an Easter Bunny with two middle fingers sticking up. I don’t. Nor do I want to see anything that the particular maker posts. Being rude and nasty on a 3d print site isn’t necessary, for me at least.
So, please remove the 200 limit on ‘disliked’ makers. Also, the term ‘dislike’ is not appropriate. Those of us with some sort of civil view of the hobby simply would like to NOT SEE some maker’s work.

So you’re posting that you want to block people because they are “rude and nasty” while at the same time complaining about the forum blocking a “rude” word?
Well, the word I used isn’t rude, it is fitting for the things that a lot of people upload. Their stuff is rude, I just described it and some 12 year old’s ideas of what is a dirty word came into play.
I think it does help to bring it up. The site goes downhill by the day, especially if nobody says anything. Supposedly the site is for the users. Of course the owner makes money but only if there is a group of users.
Again, unfortunately, there are plenty of dirt bags to go around and a site like this will always attract enough of those to replace the people who get tired of the unnecessary nonsense.
And I saw a word above about something that bulls drop and it didn’t get blocked. That makes me feel good, knowing the operators of the site know English well.
The word I used and was blocked is actually a derivative of the name of the person who invented the flush toilet. Nothing like a dirty word…
I’m asking out of curiosity, but maybe you can explain this: Shouldn’t this be marked as NSFW? Not just erotic stuff, but also, well, “flip the bird”? That way, it would be easy to block with the NSFW filter.
At least that was my last understanding, but I could be completely wrong. After all, NSFW means anything you wouldn’t look at at work. Of course, what is considered NSFW is a matter of definition, depending on the culture.
Yes, probably. What you say is true, but again, the rules don’t get enforced. I’ve reported many designs that were obvious attempts at cheating or whatever and most of them have been deleted. But, there aren’t any moderators on the build side of this place, so nothing happens unless it is reported.
If we were free to block what we don’t want to see, for whatever reason, it would make this subject workable for every culture. Maybe some people don’t like to see certain things. It should be OK to block those things, just as the owners think it is OK for someone to upload them.
One more comment. Look up Thomas Crapper. He was an inventor. He didn’t actually invent the syphon toilet, but he did invent parts of it. The origin of the term (word) I used is actually ancient. Look it up on wikipedia. I wonder if we can say that… ?
Let me put it this way, I at least understand what you’re trying to say. I mean, as far as “flipping the bird” is concerned, which you describe as rude, I now understand the context.
There are just tons of models that aren’t marked as NSFW.
On the other hand, the rules are really very loosely defined. I also checked the wiki, and the same phrase is used there too. Although, in this context, many models should actually be considered profanity.
But before anyone misunderstands, personally I don’t care, but I understand that it can be a bit awkward the situation on MW if you really want to keep things SFW (work, children, etc.).
I still find it hilarious that some cavemen deemed a handful of words taboo centuries ago because certain commonly used letters are arranged in a certain order and all the “pearl clutchers” still to this day 100’s of years later are offended by those few consonants and vowels because they cant break free and think for themselves..
Conversely i think we are all adults and can handle scrolling past things we aren’t interested in instead of demanding that someone give us a way to block it
I agree to a certain extent. We should be able to make decisions on what we see instead of a platform blocking out “Offensive” terms for everyone.This thread is not the most clear on what we are actually discussing here. As already pointed out, this has been brought up multiple times already. Scrolling past something is one way, but I can see how it can be very annoying to see the same creators that mass produce low quality models but somehow end up on the trending pages every week.
It is about being given the ability to moderate what you yourself see instead of making overbearing rules for everyone. Personally, I do not care about seeing a model of an animal giving the middle finger, but I do not want to see a horse dildo.
This discussion is really about the ability to view what we want to view. That is not a big deal in most places. ‘Getting past’ isn’t the issue. Doing a search for what I want to see IS the issue. That isn’t too much to ask. I don’t care who thinks a bad word or image is offensive. I DO CARE that it should be easy to avoid whatever it is you want to avoid.
A good example is keychains. They are not offensive but there are thousands of them. I don’t want to scroll past those or models of temples or whatever.
If this place is actually out of ‘beta’ then simple things like this should already be done.
I mean it seems to be on par with the printables search, i don’t see a way to exclude specific keywords when searching, so unless you’re going to go and block every person who ever made a keychain just because you don’t like keychains i don’t really see that happening
I give up with this post. All we need is the ability to block as many makers as we want. Since the number of members is unlimited, the number we block should also be.
