Bad first layer, I'm stumped

So, I run a print farm, and this is a new one on me.

My first layer gets thin/under extrudes whenever the head seems to change direction.

Photo attached.

Happens with all filaments, but I only noticed it when using the textured bed.

I think maybe my head is loose on the rods?

I am running an e3d high flow nozzle, but only at stock speeds as it improved PETG quality significantly

Suggestions welcome.
I think increasing the first layer thickness would help, but I can’t change that variable.

Calibrate your flow rate.

Why can’t you change first layer thickness?

I think I worked it out.

The completed print had very oval holes. So I think either a belt is loose, or the rig needs tramming. The thin layers are down to the initial slop running out and the head moves faster than expected to catch up with it’s demanded position.
