Hi, I’m new to 3d printing and recently bought an A1.
I printed some minis using the stainless steel 0.2 nozzle and it worked well.
Unfortunately, in the last few days, I have started getting some failed prints. I noticed that my support brims are somewhat weird. They look “grainy” and not thick enough. I’m honestly not sure how the other ones (before I got failed results) looked since I started actually paying attention to them after the failed ones.
I noticed that the prints are falling because these brims are disconnecting from the bed mid-print. Since that didn’t happen before (my first 10 to 15 prints), I wonder if something broke.
I’m using the regular 0.08 profile on Bambu Studio, Bambu Basic PLA, default settings + Supports enabled (Tree Slim), and Texturized Bed from Bambulabs.
I also tried with Orca slicer, and found the same issue.
I’ve printed AMS Lite enclosure and my filaments enclosure is stuck at 10% humidity levels for days at this point. I wonder if it could be humidity?
The brims look terrible. I don’t care about their looks, since they will be removed anyway, but I suspect it is not offering enough adhesion. I also wonder if this is a first-layer issue only or specifically related to support brims.
Any tips on how to solve this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
Well to test brimming just make a simple square like what 4-5cm or something, large enough to make the printer worka bit, doesn’t need to be tall you know? testing brim only.
then in the brim try these settings I use. Note 10 is super excessive this was a tall sword
Note the purple # is how close your actual model is to the brim. The default SUCKS and is a grand canyon away and not supportive of anything. setting it to 0.04 will make the printer essentially solid line it TO the model and you will need a deburring edge tool to clean it.
You can duplicate your cube and give it enough space around to not waste time and select “per object” to edit the brims on each.
Test the gap of say 0.04/05/06 etc so see how it reacts. Generally I go 0.06 for medium height or small finicky detail stuff and tall tall full height i’ll glue it with 0.04 to be sure nothing happens.
EDIT: also make sure to dawn soap clean the build plate especially with a 02 nozzle…thats gonna be required.
I’m using a 04 nozzle above so you would adjust to 0.02 instead to get it to kiss
I don’t see any quality difference between the support brim and the 3d model brim.
So this, based on my newbie opinion, makes me think that the issue might be related to Textured bed + .2 nozzle.
Is there a way to make these brims thicker? Maybe 2 or 3 layers.
I actually have not used a 02 (nor own one yet) nozzle to now go down this path, I would agree the 04 is fine so not the machine or settings. Heh!
Sorry to ping you @MalcTheOracle but you seem very knowledgeable in alt threads maybe an 02 assit here? This seems really weird why would it fuzz the brim?
Since I’m new, I can’t really say, but do you think the support brims look okay on my first picture? Also, do you have any clue what could cause such a difference compared to the ones I had before?

Firstly, humidity can always be an issue. The internal humidity of an enclosure doesn’t help diagnose the amount (if any) of moisture saturation within a filament.
As I tell the ladies, it is not how I look, it is how I perform.
Does the part print using them, if it does, they way they look is not relevant.
I am a fan of ruling things out, you had better luck with black, the poor quality was white. That is a difference, how it relates is a different issue.
What are the brand, type, subtype or the filaments?
Black

If they match everything other than colour, dry the white, and try the black.
You should repeat the problem print with a different filament: black or something else.
You are using an AMS, use the same slot, in case something relates to that., if success/failure, use a different slot, does this repeat the issue or success?
Yes, of course. I think the bed adhesion problems I’ve been facing recently are directly related to these brims. They didn’t look like that before, as I posted on my comments above.
I can see the same issue with all filaments I have. White, blue, black and yellow.
White, black and yellow are the ones I’ve been using the whole week and the week before, since the first printer assembly.
Right now, I opened a brand new filament, the blue one, to test it out and got the same results: A very very thin first layer around the supports (and 3d model brim), almost watery, with some granular pattern, which is different from what I was getting before with the same filaments, nozzle and cfg. Of course, opening a brand new filament won’t necessarily discard the humidity issue, but
All filaments are Bambu Lab PLA Basic.
I don’t have a drier for now, so I can’t test that, unfortunately.
My current environment humidity is 25% and the enclosure is locked-in on 10%.
I don’t think it is related to the AMS slot, since it happens with all filaments I have.
