Bambu 4-in-1 PTFE Adapter on H2d

how do you install this thing ?

the package only has the Bambu 4-in-1 PTFE Adapter, no tube, so how am i supposed to connect it ? and the wiki on it is a joke.

what i mean to say, i know i am supposed to use a tube to connect it to the H2d, what i don’t get is why they don’t provided one or at least tell you when you buy the Bambu 4-in-1 PTFE Adapter

No offense intended here, but should we also include a note on the printer saying “filament required,” and on the filament saying “printer sold separately”? :smile:

Sometimes, we humans are expected to fire up the gray matter between our ears once in a while.

Personally, when I buy a coupler, I just kind of assume I’ll need some tubing to go with it.

But hey—you’re not alone. I forget to order accessories too from time to time, so I totally get it.

That said, you’re actually in luck! You probably already have spare PTFE tubes from either your printer or AMS units. Just grab one of those for now, and toss a few extras into your next order. That way, you’ll have replacements ready before you actually need them.

I get the joke, no offense taken. It’s just that when you buy an accessory, you usually expect it to include everything required for that accessory to function.

For example, when I bought an extra power cable for my second AMS, I got both the cable and the power brick—not just one or the other. That’s kind of the standard expectation: an accessory should be usable out of the box.

In this case, it’s just odd that a tiny piece of PTFE tubing—something that’s clearly necessary for the adapter to work—isn’t included, or at the very least mentioned as a separate requirement before checkout. It’s not a consumable like filament that you’re expected to already have plenty of. It’s a small, specific part that could easily fit in the same bag.

There’s a difference between consumables you need to use a product and essential components you need to install an accessory.

No one expects a Blu-ray player to come with infinite discs—but everyone expects it to include an HDMI cable.

the reason i made this post its because if you look at the adapter’s product page, all the examples shown are older printers where it was easier to just remove the PTFE tube and connect directly to the adapter. That approach doesn’t work easily with the H2D, so it seems like an oversight. Kind of like the previous issue I mentioned with cold pulls—where a simple line on how many centimeters of filament are needed would save a lot of confusion.

They’ll probably keep selling it this way because older printers don’t need that small PTFE piece. But since the H2D does require it, adding a simple note on the product page would make a big difference.

True, but if you own at least one printer, you likely have spare PTFE tubes as well. I have one set for my X1 Carbon, one for my AMS, one for my H2D, one for each AMS2 Pro, and one set for every AMS HT I own.

So I have plenty of spares I could use. Even if I only had a single H2D, I’d still have at least two PTFE tubes suitable for connecting a 2-PTFE to 4-in-1 setup.

I get your point. It’s frustrating to get caught out. FWIW, you might want to get yourself a few meters of quality PTFE tubing as you will need to replace it over time. You want BL’s or look for 2.5mm ID, 4mm OD quality PTFE. Avoid the cheap stuff as it will cause problems; filament loading errors and I believe added extruder wear. (yes, I’ve learned…)

I guess I’ve been in hobby stuff too long where everything is “Ala carte”. I wouldn’t expect them to give me tubing, because there already tubing that comes with the printer: either a pair of scissors, a blade, or better: PTFE tubing cutter.

Tubing “is a consumable”. You don’t “have to” buy the 4 in 1. I have one on each of my 4 printers (including 2 on each H2D. Also the couplers, I’m running those on the TPU outlets. My wife even said before I purchased my first H unit: be sure to buy all the “little things” that you normally forget, especially tubing and couplers.

But really, it’s “where does it end” I suppose? Should they give you couplers, when you buy the longer sections of tubing? Should they tell you, that “you have to push the tubing into the coupler”? Should they supply us with the tools to cut the tubing? To measure the tubing, whether it be a ruler, calipers? Do they have to tell us “cut tube”? I’m just saying man, come on. There’s hand holding, and then there’s just: ok, you bought a 2000.00 printer, and you didn’t think about buying 10.00 worth of tubing? It’s like you buy a house, or do an upgrade on say your floor in said house. You buy, for example “plank” flooring, do you expect a bucket of glue to come with the planks also? I’m sorry, but “really”??? Lol…

I fly RC helicopters and gas (gasoline) airplanes… I also have a train layout. I have fuel line “by the spool”, more gauges and length of wire probably than a current hardware store has in stock.

There’s just some things I “expect” to “need” to purchase with “most” things… But that’s me…

The printer itself isn’t the issue here. What matters is that this is an accessory, and the product page could’ve included a simple line like:

Note: If you’re using this with an H2D, you’ll need a short piece of PTFE tubing.

That’s it. One line. No extra part included, no hand-holding—just a heads-up so users aren’t left confused.

You do realize they already give tons of recommendations and warnings on other product pages, right?

Take their carbon fiber filament, for example:

  • 0.2 mm Nozzle Not Compatible
  • Stainless Steel Nozzle Not Recommended
  • Dry Before Use
  • Enclosure Printers Required
  • AMS & AMS lite NOT Compatible

So clearly, they’re aware that not everyone is an expert, and that it helps to point out key limitations and requirements.

I mean, they literally tell people not to use PET-CF with a 0.2 nozzle… which seems pretty obvious to most seasoned users. But they still write it down—and that’s a good thing.

They warn that carbon fiber is abrasive and not AMS-safe. Again, many of us already know that—but they still include it.

They even remind people to dry filament before use… which is now 3D printing 101.

So yeah, I do hope you get my point. Mocking the idea of adding a small line for H2D users—who might run into compatibility issues otherwise—just feels dismissive. It’s a legitimate oversight, and I think it’s worth pointing out.

yes i have actually used the tube that came with the external feeder of the h2d, but still bambu could be more precise

You’re right, it is me. And yeah, may be dismissive, I don’t mince words, and am very dismissive when it comes to “foolishness”. Life isn’t soft, and neither am I. Now whether you consider it legit or not, that’s of your own accord, but like I and others have “politely” said, your request for tubing, points at,and I’m trying to think of a nice non getting banned way, uhh ,“a lack of missing interaction, within self, with their gray matter, on a pretty regular, if not permanent basis”…

Carbon fiber, and a plastic tube, are two completely different things(let me just enlighten, since the room seems to be dark, again on this one) … Additionally, the printer itself, already comes with tubing that can be used “for this purpose” . But… I guess. Mnnn… Need to have" intuitive improvisation skills" for that one… Nevermind…

I guess, like you said, that’s the difference between you and me… I would have never asked that question out loud… Again, that’s all me…

If so, how?

You forgot to tell that you also need scissors or another tool to cut the ptfe tube.

And why didn’t they tell me that I needed a power plug to be able to connect my printer to, and a PC to run Bambu Studio to slice the models?

As mentioned earlier by others, a bit of common sense should be used here.

nope its just hanging out, i guess its because it let the user place it depending on where you put your ams.
- higher than the printer
- on the left side of the printer

so in a way its good you don’t have default spot.

if you want it more secure, since there is not a lot of force involve with the tubing so you can print something
