I had previously had an issue with blobbing, which lead to nosel drag. When fixing the extruder, I noticed that the eddy sensor wire had come off, so I had to buy a new extruder unit. I also replaced the heating element. I’m still getting nosel drag.
I’ve checked all screws are secured, recalibrated, factory reset and recalibrated again. The latest firmware is 01.07.01.00.
I’ve noticed that the clasp that holds the hotend into place, isn’t securing the correct way. Not sure if that’s the issue. I’ve tried different nosels, as well.
Am I right in assuming that your nozzle is not properly aligned - it sticks out too far - and therefore cannot be closed? Check whether the side part of the nozzle and the clamp holder are flush / sit flat. They must be at the same height, not one in front and the other behind:
Did you replace it as described in the guide? Did you place it precisely on the alignment clip?

Oh, and to answer your question: Yes, that is a problem, because if you’re unlucky, the nozzle will move and cause printing errors. The clamp must be positioned correctly and tightened securely.
I’m pretty sure that I have done everything in the video, when I was reassembling the extruder, but I will go back and try again. It was dragging prior to replacing the extruder unit, but I figured it was because of the blob getting in behind the heating assembly, and pushing it out. I’ll add a picture of the old one.
You must fix that clasp or replace it, the way you have it now will not level properly.
Trim the leftover stump of filament off the top of it to help you. It pops “up and in” via the magnet on the back of it, and will sit flush with ZERO slop trying to move it up or down, as it sits on a shelf. The wire clip’s pinched in part must go between the fork of the other part.
I’ve taken the heating element off, check all of the screws in the back, made sure the wire is seated properly, I’ve even tried to put a brand new nosel on while the element was off, and it still wouldn’t clasp properly. Is it possible I was sent a faulty part? I’ve added more pictures.
That’s the thing, there’s no filament in the nosel. It’s all the way up. I think the flash reflecting on the little nub at the top makes it look like there’s filament in it, but I appreciate the suggestion. Even with a brand new, never used nosel, and pushed all the way up, it still won’t clasp properly, which makes me think it’s a fault heating element.
I dunno how to help more. This is how the nozzle sits in and indexes itself in the toolhead. Magnet attracts the screws (pink). Heatsink extended slot sits into the plastic groove (purple)
Nozzle’s hot part has a metal relief cut in it that should mesh with the heater element’s hot part, both above and below (can’t get a photo of above, but here’s below)
Oh, it’s no worries. I really appreciate the helpful suggestions. I’ll muck around with it later. It’s probably one of those things that when I figure it out, I’ll feel like a complete moron for not seeing it lol.
Update: Contacted Bambu, and they shipped out a new heating assembly. This one held the nosel fine, so it was a faulty part. That said, still had an issue with parts falling off the print bed. Did some research and manually trammed the bed. Things seem to be working fine now.
