Bambu High Flow Hotend for H2D

What is the recommendation when I want to use this hotend for H2D, do I need to buy 2 to replace both? (for single color print I would asume 1 should be enought , for more colors better seems to have both to have same speed).

Anyone with experience using this?

For now the H2D firmware requires both hot end the same. May change in the future.

Bambu Studio allows you to use a Standard and a High Flow nozzle next to each other, but they are not allowed to be of a different size.

Hi! Sorry for hijacking this thread, but i think this will fit to the topic.

If i swap both Hotends to Highflow ones, the printer will recognize them.
After syncing Bambu Studio it should switch Material Profiles to “high flow” ones
In those "High Flow Profiles"i have to set volumetric speeds from (PLA as example) 24 to 40 as mentioned in the HF Hotend Infos.

Now im discussing with AI if this will be enough to get faster prints while having still good quality prints.

Sometime AI tells me thats enough, sometimes AI states that i have to fiddle around in more settings.

I in fact was thinking that the auto recognition feature and raising mvs would be perfectly good.

Now i´m totally confused (beginner with just a little experience) if i should go the hf route because there could be much more to finetune and consider.

Just dropping in, using hf profiles and raising mvs would be neat, but im uncertain right now.

Raising the MVS alone might not be enough, because if your print speeds are already lower than what your line width, layer height, and nozzle size can handle, you’ll still hit the flow limit. To properly optimize your printing process, you need to consider all these factors together: speed, MVS, line width, nozzle size, and layer height.

The nozzle size doesn’t directly define MVS, but it limits what combinations of line width and layer height are physically possible. A larger nozzle can push more material per second before reaching the flow limit, while a smaller nozzle reaches that limit sooner. Layer height and line width determine how much filament must be extruded per millimeter of movement, so both directly influence how close you get to the MVS cap.

The relationship between these parameters is:

MVS = line width Ă— layer height Ă— print speed

and to find the maximum safe print speed for a given MVS:

print speed = MVS / (line width Ă— layer height)

This means that increasing either the line width or layer height (or using a larger nozzle that allows them) requires lowering the print speed to stay within the filament’s maximum volumetric limit. Otherwise, you’ll exceed the extrusion capacity and risk under-extrusion or overload errors.

Also note that on the H2D there are two separate speed settings — one for the left extruder and one for the right. When adjusting filament settings, make sure you’re editing the correct drive: High Flow or Normal. It happens more often than it should that users change settings for the normal drive (which remains the default even when HF nozzles are detected) and then wonder why the updated MVS isn’t taking effect.

Thank you for the clarification.
That means I’ll stick with the standard configuration.

It would have been nice if, when using original Bambu filament with Bambu HF nozzles—considering all the sensors and automatic detection—everything relevant would also be automatically switched to faster but safe settings without requiring any manual intervention.

In other words, I thought it would be more or less automatically switched to safe values, and that would be it.

Just on top of the already very comprehensive explanation of @L0rdS474n :

In the print profile you would normally set the maximum speeds for all motion types that will allow a certain quality.

The outer walls are usually set to lower speeds because otherwise the surface quality would suffer.

For sparse infill you can set the maximum that you would think is possible in your printer.

The slicer will now calculate for each element what the Volumetric Speed is and if that is lower than the Maximum, it will just run the given speed.

If the VS is higher, the speed will be reduced so the VS = MVS.

Most of the motions won’t hit the MVS, unless you are using a large nozzle, or your speeds are quite high ((sparse) infill, etc.).

So if you have a certain profile and switch between Standard or High flow, the outer wall speed usually doesn’t change.

On top of this the minimum layer time is capable of reducing your VS if the times get too short.

I hope this gives some extra context.

I bought 2 from Bambulab store, anyone with some manual what to set, or is it all automatically done when printer scans those HT.

also I found some Hotends in Aliexpress for really low prize.
Are they ok? I mean looks the same. question is if they will work properly.

If you select the HF nozzle in Bambu Studio, it will use the HF filament profile automatically.

Some people on here have bad experiences with HF nozzles from AliExpress. I personally can’t tell, as I don’t have them.
