Bambu Lab’s current strategy of flooding the market with new machines (as they did throughout 2025) is not the customers’ problem to solve — and customers should not be the ones paying the price in stability, compatibility, and support.
When you launch model after model, you also multiply the surface area for bugs. Firmware and Bambu Studio aren’t “one-size-fits-all” when key functionality differs per machine. That means every release must be validated against each printer model and its specific feature set. If that regression testing isn’t resourced properly, the result is predictable: the newest flagship becomes the only real priority, while everyone else gets a steady stream of breakage, delays, and excuses.
From a user’s perspective, this is exactly what’s happening right now. Since the H2C release, I haven’t been able to use Helio at all — because the entire focus appeared to shift toward onboarding and “pleasing” the newest user segment, while compatibility for existing customers was effectively deprioritized. It creates the unmistakable feeling that if your printer is more than a month or two old, you’re no longer a first-class customer.
The same pattern shows up in firmware. Either there’s a single team expected to maintain firmware across an expanding portfolio (which becomes unmanageable at this launch pace), or there’s been a deliberate choice to treat older models as low priority almost immediately after launch. In practice, firmware updates and Studio features arrive quickly for the latest flagship — but when older printers (even those less than a year old) finally receive updates, they too often ship with serious regressions and reliability issues.
And that’s what makes the “we need extensive testing” narrative hard to accept. If extensive testing is truly the blocker, why does the newest platform receive frequent releases and rapid feature delivery, while older platforms wait longer and then get updates that feel under-tested? One of those things doesn’t add up: either the testing discipline is inconsistent, or the support priorities are.
This is worth stating plainly for prospective buyers: don’t assume “new” means “supported long-term.” If the current approach continues into 2026, your shiny new printer can become “legacy” in a couple of months — and you may be left with delayed fixes, broken integrations, and a support posture that treats regressions as normal collateral damage.
Bambu Lab can fix this, but it requires real commitments, not marketing:
• A clear support policy and lifecycle per model (including minimum firmware/Studio support windows).
• An LTS-style firmware branch for stability-focused users.
• Transparent compatibility guarantees for core integrations (like Helio), with published break/fix timelines.
• A tighter release process: proper regression testing across all actively supported models before shipping updates.
Customers didn’t choose to flood the market — Bambu Lab did. The burden of making that strategy sustainable belongs to Bambu Lab, not to the people who already paid for their printers.
