Are we thinking this thing is still going to be AMS capatible? (As in AMS 2 and HT)
Its starting to not look like it.

Not a single chance it would (that seemed clear to me from the first teaser) without some crazy mods.
This much headroom makes sense, the PTFE octopus needs room. But now we have the overall silhouette of it, two things Iâm thinking:
Say you are 6 feet / 182cm tall, if you put it on a standard height table, youâll be reaching upwards a bit to grab spools. Nothing deal breaking, but the ergonomic is rather funny.
A single lid, as previous drawings showed. Not a problem for PLAs, but I see it as eating moist air and drinking desiccants in order to store sensitive filaments well.
WOW, the AMS 3H is huge! 25 25 25
When I said some disappointments I was referring to the highly technical minded users that tend to congregate on a thread like this.
BL makes their products for the masses and always puts easy of use and reliability ahead of everything else. If they have to make a choice between speed and the convenience for users, BL will always choose the latter. The same is true for the choice between the amount of poop and user convenience.
For this reason, there will always be some disappointments for users who look to see which printer has the highest speed or the least amount of poop, which seem to be two trendy talks on the interweb right now.
There will also be some surprises too as BL has a history of doing their own innovations instead of following what are being talked about the most on Youtube.
Yeah it seemed obvious. But maybe they have something up their sleeve.
It doesnt even have an input port for external filament, unless built into its AMS.
1/3 the capacity of the H2C is a bit of a let down. Not to mention the thousands in AMS units that people would be wasting if they upgraded, and less capacity for auto refill.
Data cable is probably the easy part, but how the tube gonna go around seemedâŚ. Ugh.
I do wonder about the AMS3Hâs feed design. If the expectation is that current level of user experience be maintained it should be all 9?10? reels free to go to any of the 9 tools via software alone without user touching the unitâŚ. That would be the basis that current AMS conveniences needs. Or at least, be zoned into zone A and B.
I think some people are missing the point of system like this and why the regular AMS/AMS2 is not ideal. The whole point is to not have the AMS load/unload the filament but to have all 9 spots loaded ready to go before the print. Then its not wasting time loading/unloading. You might have 9 different filaments but you might also have 3 or 4 different filaments with a backup or each. Using this new system that basically only has one gradual 90* bend from the AMS to the print head (or loaded nozzle) means you can run multiple flexible filaments or multiple stiff filaments PPS/PPA without them breaking on load/unload etc due to the crazy filament tube routing of existing AMS feed routes or printer feed routes. The AMS being large and above the printer as one unit (sort of) eliminates most of the issues we have for time loading/unloading filaments, loading/unloading flexibles and stiff filaments.
If you want to print 24 PLAâs stick with H2C. Who knows the new AMS might have a spot to connect existing AMS on the unit itself.
Where is this even from? âmulticolorâ aside, automated loading and unloading while keeping it sealed is the entire point of AMS - Automatic Material System. Are there any evidences to think AMS3H is doing away with such capacity? Loading filament before the print start literally has 0 benefits IF the AMS can load filaments.
For filaments that must be manually loaded, thatâs an entirely different thing.
Again, what is this even based on? the 3H doesnât have this many spool slots.
The main possible benefit from this is if the individual heads are constantly heated, not needing repeated heating upon usage like the vortek system. If it has constant heating for individual toolheads, then itâs a good deal for a 9-toolchanger
It has 9 spool slots. 5 in the front 4 in the back

The leaked photoâs (if real) show 9 available spool slots in two rows (Front row 5 spools, rear row 4). The CURRENT AMS are completely useless for flexible filaments and PPA type filaments other than âTPU for AMSâ . If you can pre-load the flexibles into each nozzles you can print multiple flexible filaments in one print and multiple stiff filaments in one print. The filaments do NOT need to be autoloaded with the AMS they can just sit in the slot and feed into toolhead/nozzle. This is NOT possible with the current AMS/AMS Pro. With the new unit due to the location of the rolls, the spacing above the new nozzles/tool heads, and the lack of sharp 90âs would allow for us to do things we canât do now. It would also save time and poop on 9 color pla prints as you have 9 alreadly loaded into their own nozzle. The H2C has ONE nozzle(for the nozzle changer side) and has to load/unload from the nozzle for each color. I think (my guess)that the AMS will be sealed from outside but the bottom will either be open to the printer or have multiple holes/feed tubes that are routed smooth straight down to the printer so we can do things all the other printers canât.
Which means in every day use, you probably have 7 usable slots because you are probably going to be using one or two for filament runout.
Just so frustrating to read. Like a riddle. If you meant preloading ONLY for super stiffs/super softs, fine, thatâs a fair point, but you didnât even state that in the sentence about âthe point of this systemâ being preloading.

My fault. I assumed that was obvious when I mentioned the type of filaments I did. (NOTE: I am not trying to be mean or rude. I just assumed)
yep, for me its more like 2-3 different filaments at most in a single print with backup. And than all my other slots are filled with stuff that is pre-loaded into the AMS so I can just click print for a different filament or color for that specific print.
Iâd wish they had something to attach first and second generation AMSes to H3C later on, and even if some third party does manage to break the code, how are they going to get all the firmware in place?
Base price ~$3K USD
Full package ~$5.2K USD
Expect P3 to be priced lower respectively.
On second thought, 0 chance might be a bit exaggerated. Thereâs technically some ways older AMS can be hooked up, but each approach seems awkward in its own ways.
H3C + old AMS? Unenclosed, super long tubes
Old AMS first requires AMS3H? a PTFE pass through hole and 6-pin on the outer casing. Maybe the inlet will just act as the 10th/11th slot in the AMS3H feed arrangement hub, so the added cost can be minimal.
I think worst is, thereâs no way you can possibly stack a second AMS3H, right?? If so, it might be the funny situation that H3C can be expanded but only with older AMSs that - just as older AMSs are - must act as a single âone additional rollâ on the new AMS rack
They WONâT sell it without the AMS 3H thatâs for sure. Doubt theyâd even make a glass lid for it.
H3C + AMS 3H ~$2.25 to $2.8 USD, just as always, the H2Dâs price is going to be butchered, and the H2Câs price is going to be set to $2k for the combo or just go offsale completely in order to keep up in the toolchanger race.
P3C + AMS 3P ~$800 to $1.4k USD. I doubt this would be shifting around any prices, even if it does go above the H2Sâ price, the H2Sâ price wonât change. Whatever is still left in that price gap will be left for a possible H2P, yk, just a H2S just stripped of all the chamber features, heaters, and fans, but thatâs 100% speculation although a surprising amount of people actually would want this.
Might be a great time to get another H2D ![]()
