Now that Bambu Lab PETG-HF has been discontinued what alternatives have you found for a good matte PETG with similar colors? I have standardized many of my parts using the Gray, Dark Gray and Black. The Sunlu PETG Matte Gray is just slightly darker than the Bambu Dark Gray and it has just a slight bit more sheen to it. I’m not a fan of the new Bambu PETG and colors are very limited.

Good riddance. All PETG offerings from BL were bad.
But I find it funny how they yapped about how cool HF was when they brought it in to replace Basic and now… basic comes back and discontinuing HF.
OP, let me introduce you to a wonderful world of actually good filament. Not Sunlu inconsistent trash, or any other low-quality shiet.

I don’t have any problem with high speed PETG from Sunlu or Jayo. Both of these print fine with the BL HF PETG settings. In fact they will print faster then if you use the Generic HF settings. Question what will be the new Bambu Basic PETG print speeds compared to the HF?

I’ve used Voxel and Polymaker plenty in the past. I guess I should have stressed more in my request the importance of a matte finish. While I love Voxel, the sheen is much higher than most PETG’s and their color selection isn’t good. Polymaker’s new formula prints better than the old, but again sheen is a bit higher. I make drone parts that need to match their gray color and matte finish.

a) PETG sheen depends on the print temp. Lower it and sheen will be more matte.
b) PETG for drone parts is … weird selection for many reasons. It’s not stiff and it’s dense material, meaning you get somewhat flexible and heavy parts. Why do you need that?
c) If you still want to use PETG (really curious to learn why), then take a look at GF/CF infused PETG. Or better yet - go with PET-CF/GF

When Bambu PETG HF first came out in 2024, I did a bake-off against Elegoo Rapid PETG.
TL;DR: Bambu’s product was about 60% more expensive for a single spool. At the time, lead times were longer, returns were less convenient, and shipping was extra unless you purchased in bulk.
By comparison, Elegoo is available for next-day delivery through Amazon, with free shipping and free returns for Prime members.
In my testing, the two products performed essentially the same. The main difference was that the Elegoo filament required some tuning. Here are the profile settings I use, though you’ll want to recalibrate for your specific machine:
A properly calibrated filament profile does not care what the spool costs. A well-tuned $10 generic spool can print as well as, or better than, Bambu’s higher-priced spools running on factory defaults.
Since then, I have switched to Sunlu High Speed PETG because it has been beating Elegoo on price.

I understand the sheen / print temp relationship, unfortunately lowering temps also decreases layer adhesion. My drone parts require flexibility to clip on and around parts of the drone and require flexibility not rigidity. GF and CF filaments are far too rigid for my use. Over the decade I’ve been doing this I’ve found that PETG works best for my parts.

I agree with you there, the Sunlu Matte High Speed is pretty good, prints good, Dark Gray is close to what I need, it’s slightly darker than Bambu’s and a bit more glossy. I use quite a bit of Elegoo Rapid PETG on some other parts when I don’t need a matte finish, it’s decent too.

It is being discontinued, once out of stock, which it is right now, but in stock in a few days.

Right now with my Sunlu or Jayo HS PETG, I tell the printer its Bambu HF PETG. Is there a way I can have the printer save the Bambu HF settings under the name of Sunlu HS PETG or Jayo HS PETG. This would be so I could know exactly what I have in the AMSs though it will be the Bambu HF PETG settings. Or is this something I need to do in Bambu Studio?
I’m obviously in the minority here. I prefer the non-matte PETG for my goofy items. I don’t mess around with “selling” or “manufacturing” here. I just print fun stuff for around the house and for gifts. When the model requires strength and temperature protection, I shoot for the PETG. Otherwise, PLA works fine. I do understand the need for Matte though. It does give a much more “professional” look to an item.
I noticed that Bambu Lab has added quite a few more PETG BASIC colors. I stocked up on all of them. So… IF your needs or desires are for the less Matte PETG, BL has some nice looking colors now for PETG BASIC. I’m digging them. Can’t wait to put them to use.

Slowing down increases layer adhesion. Also matte PETGs have worse interlayer adhesion by their design, just FYI. HS Matte PETGs are the weakest of the PETGs. You are not going to necessarily loose any performance, but YMMV based on you specific application.

Probably because not all shipments of spools arrived at distribution centers at the time of the message. US store also stocked out, but has early June message. Anyway, yeah, that is dumb kinda haha.
I mean… you just pretty much summed it up the whole PETG deal. If you want functional parts - you gotta print them hot and slow. If you need more appealing prints, then… print in something else, or if you still need PETG, then matte I guess…
Or be like me - transparent PETG with different hues look amazing for something, like kitchen, where it would be exposed to greases and harsh chemicals.

You’re not alone. While I despise some of Bambu’s business practices, customer service, and support, I love their products, PETG HF among the top for the kind of stuff I print, which sounds similar to you.
I don’t think Sunlu/Jayo/Techbears HS PETG is that great — to me the colors aren’t as vibrant and I sometimes have minor issues with stringing and clumping even after drying and calibrating. It’s ok, but nowhere near Bambu PETH HF quality in my experience.
I have a couple rolls of Bambu PETG basic that I’m going to try to see if it’s a reasonable sub, and if not I’ll be on the hunt for a new brand.
But I’m with you 100%…I’m sorry to see HF go.

If you need to identify the filament for AMS purposes, the slicer makes this relatively trivial.
In Orca slicer there is also an option to merge to profiles. I haven’t had a reason to use this on my Bambu Machine since I don’t have an AMS, but I have used it on my Creality CFS which is the same function as the AMS. The merge function essentially renames one profile for another.
The real problem with Bambu PETG HF was that it was always out of stock. I’m selling a functional product, so matte black and blue from Jayo and Sunlu is fine. I got Jayo for $5 and $7 for 1.1 Kg rolls. Pricing has gone up quite a bit to $10 being the cheapest on Aliexpress. It does comes packaged like cocaine. LOL All boxes are wrapped in plastic and the then every thing in one big plastic bag. I like the speed of Bambu HF and the Sunlu/Jayo high speed.
