Strange behavior from a device after a firmware upgrade is often corrected by performing a reset to factory settings.
On the X1C, that is done on the settings page of the screen (the hex icon), “General” tab. Just touch “Restore to factory settings”, then set it up as you would a brand new printer, running the calibration routine, etc.
