Experiencing Bambu Matte for the first time and encountered problems with first layer, poor adhesion - small pieces of filament sticking to the hot end and filament lifting of the bed …… after wasting half a roll of filament and a couple of hours the problem seems to be sorted ……

Solution:

Raise bed temperature to 60 degrees - First layer hot end temp 225 degrees then 220 degrees

The above is the final solution but issues with the BETA software + the AI Helio contributed to “not ideal print quality” - I uninstalled both. Also Arachne is part of the improvement in my print quality overall - I don’t understand why this is not the default setting.

Silly question maybe: what color was the filament?

Sometimes the color can be the reason. My black PLA matte and PLA basic adhere just as good to the build plate, no special changes needed.

As soon as I printed red, it’s struggling to adhere to the bed.

Just want you to know that color (or better said, the pigment) is a huge influencer/differentiator.

what temp is the bed? what temp are you printing at? my temp for overture matte is 225 and had no problems with it sticking or not printing well.

This week I printed on PEI textured plate and Cryo Glacier with Bambu Matte without any issue.

  • Caramel
  • Dark brown
  • Terracotta
  • Black Charcoal
    No difference was noted between them, perfect first layer, top adhésion even too much with Glacier plate.
    All was printed with default settings for the PEI plate and 45°C for the Glacier

I don’t have the temp out of the top of my head, but it was the same temperature as when I printed black and was not having any issues.

I eventually solved my issue with one layer of black at the bottom and print red on top of that, as in my case that was the quick solution. A different bed or nozzle temperature might have solved it also.

I know you found the solution, but I was merely trying to make clear that it might not have been the filament type that was the reason for the problem. Also different manufacturers require different parameters.

The Colour is “Lilac Purple” - my Son has an H2S and no issues with PLA Matte filaments. I consider the temperature is definitely a factor in solving my initial layer issue.

I’m also having trouble with the Lilac purple its doing my head in. I’ve dried it a couple of times. I use the P1P. Its a bit better that I followed your suggestion. Lower bed temp to 60 first layer 225 & the rest layers 220. Also changed it to Arachne. Still not perfect though.
