when I printed this type of filament with my P1S it would break apart into its separate colors and cause clogs. I was reluctant to try it on my H2C but because my daughter begged me to try it (it is very pretty), I thought I would give it a shot. It ruined a .4 induction nozzle and clogged my extruder as well. What a nightmare. Anyone else have these poor results with this type of filament?
I have printed many models with Bambu PLA Silk without issue. I’ve printed both standalone projects and those combined with PLA. Never have any issue with it. I used my original nozzles until I got the HF nozzles, but again, no issues in either use case. Is your filament dry? I keep my filament (even PLA) in dry boxes at all times when not in use.
Single color silk pla prints fine for me. Multi color jams almost every time, it’s a pain. I did measure it once and it was 1.82 and not 1.75 in diameter. I don’t remember if I adjusted the flow rate to compensate or not.
my original post was referring to the Bambu multi-color silk filament, not the single color. The multi-color silk appears to be made by fusing two single strands together, and they can separate tearing up the nozzle, extruder, and also AMS.
Glad I found someone else with the same problem. Yes, if you measured it at 1.82 instead of 1.75, that would definitely cause problems, I am assuming it expands over time. This destroyed my nozzle and my AMS, at least the extruder I was able to fix. Anyone want some free rolls of silk multi-colored? LOL
That is close to how it is made.
I have not experienced this.
I have just finished printing half a dozen kg over 7 different Bambu Lab Silk+ dual colour filaments.
I printed everything dragon related, so it was all stop start, all from AMS units. A classroom of young kids are getting them as an end of year thing and I was happy to donate the time and materials.
I know it is not great to hear others don’t have this issue, but it does mean it isn’t all the filaments.
Hopefully, you can narrow down the problem to a batch or some other causality,
Let me clarify, I meant I’ve been using PLA Silk (multicolor, single color, every variant) without issue.
