Bambu raising model issue

Hello,
I have recently bought a AMS, but I can’t understand why Bambu will not allow you to raise a model, it always snaps to the build plate!

I have white text and a another model thats black with the text cut out, I can place the model that’s black and text cut on top, but I want the back to be fully white, so I place a white model on top that is identical dimensions and place it on top, but…it snaps to the build plate, I want it to raise it 1mm.

I really can’t understand why Bambu would release an AMS with a slicer that doesnt support raising a model… or even have it as an option if it can’t be done.

Any help with would be amazing as everything I have tried, I just can not get the model to raise!

It sounds like you may be confusing how the slicer works. If you have two models on a build plate, the slicer will assume each one is an independent entity. If you want the model to be suspended, you must make it part of an assembly. Here is an illustration of how that might work with a sphere and 1mm cube. The cube serves no purpose other than to anchor the combined assembly to the build plate. Since the slicer believes it is part of an assembly, it will not allow it to drop down to the plate.

There are subreddits and YouTube videos that use this affect with time lapsed video to deliberately create spaghetti on the build plate for artistic purposes.

Thanks very much!
I didn’t know about that little trick! Will look into that more thanks.

Before your reply, what I found to work was placing all models on the build plate, merging them, I was then able to set the height of the selected model in the objects menu.
