Bambu spool tool. For filament refills

Good deal, I saw he’s had several downloads on it already

I did the same, and reported the other model too, since it was not even a remix. Glad it’s sorted out and now only the original model is there.

I did my part and printed one for a friend that will have a printer next week and another one for me, even though i don’t need it, at least for now.

But i agree, it’s a great idea and great execution :ok_hand:

Yeah I printed one too, awesome idea. I always watch his videos, he has one about heat soaking the Neptune 4 Max that has helped a LOT of people in the Elegoo community (including me).

I printed one from his STL, started before looking on Makerworld…

Came out extremely smooth.

Just loaded a dozen refills before printing it, all my refills had good cardboard spools.

But it’s not such a big innovation. We’ve been using something similar in our company since we started using refill spools.
We do have a board with pins in it, though, which we attach to the table with a screw clamp, on which a spool part is placed.
But otherwise we use the same principle and just because someone is presenting it in a video, where the description of the illness seems to me more like it was the creator of the video himself, it gives the impression that someone is aggressively trying to score points

No it doesn’t. A valid problem is presented and the video documents the thought process and development of a solution. A solution that is given away for free outside of Makerworld.

Well, a few drops of silicone oil applied correctly will solve the problem

This is one of the 3 issues that has been plaguing me through my last 40 rolls of Bambu Black refills. I normally use my hands and smooth out the cardboard, I have had to resort to a razor knife a few times. The second issue is that the filament will get stuck down the side of the spool, and this is so frustrating. And then the third issue is the damn tape holding the filament to the spool. These three things combined form a nasty filament swap routine.

  1. Spool runs out in the AMS, but doesn’t free itself from the tape so the tape jams in the feeder.
  2. Ok, spend 5 minutes fixing that, then wait for the remainder of the filament to get past the feeder so you can add the next roll.
  3. Pull out refill with bad cardboard edges. Spend 10 minutes mucking with the cardboard so you can get the filament onto the spool. Also I have noticed that the new rolls with bad edges, also has a smaller diameter than the old rolls. So it is tighter even without the bad edges.
  4. Filament gets stuck down the side of the spool. The print usually stops 3 or 4 times every new spool so I can pull out filament then wind it back up.

So true. As the days go by I really long for a thumbs down or a poop emoji added to the response strip at the bottom of posts.

Poop emoji would anger the gods… better leave it out of the equation

But a thumbs down, yes please. It would avoid answering many topics and conversations :ok_hand:

Like this guy’s solution

Yeah, let’s wait on shipping a roll back, then wait on a new roll to arrive

Just printed the tool! Thank you very much!

It looks that cardboard core sits really tight on the spool so it will be quite hard to remove plastic straps that hold filament. Never had this issue but might print to have it just in case (same goes for Gear Removal Tool - better have it in advance)

You know what they say about assuming?

I’m not the make of the video, nor of the tool. And
had you paid attention to the sentence in the OP “I’ve only ordered about 6 refills so far, I haven’t run into this.”, you’ wouldn’t have jumped to the conclusion you did. Because I don’t have a boogered up roll to video.

And what irritates me, is you are also disparaging the creator of the tool and video. If you hadn’t noticed by a couple of comments, his channel is followed by some people. Why? Because he has ideas for using 3D printers the average person doesn’t think of. You may only find a few that apply to what you are doing, but most people find the occasionally useful idea that fits what they need.

He doesn’t need to “score points”, as he’s both liked and appreciated. He gives out links to his ideas freely and has taken suggestions in the past about improvements graciously. And he usually goes through the iterations so people can learn from his mistakes, or about the thought process. This is something beginner designers can learn from.

He’s an interesting and generous (with his time and methods) youtuber.

I think CRracer712 got it right about Summii’s post.

Just downloaded the soft hammer. Thanks for the link!!!

I watched this post because there is a video about it, which I hoped would help me a little more, as I buy empty Bambu Lab spools, as I also use filament from other suppliers and have to rewind them because of the paper spools for the AMS.

But unfortunately it is not much help for me, as I have already designed and printed a similar part myself.

The part you are promoting here is comparable to mine, however, as mine is fixed on the other side of the spool with an additional bracket with a bayonet lock.

And as you can see in the video here, his help is causing him more problems than helping him.

Therefore, the part is not innovative for me, as even I have better help.

But I am very grateful to you for publishing such a post here, because for the last seven days I have been offered this exact part with a lever as an additional option for 15 to 25 dollars when I buy empty Bambu Lab spools.

And since you can see on the bottom of the parts on offer that they have been manipulated to make lettering disappear, I am firmly convinced that the information for these parts was revealed in this post.

And now I am supposed to be jealous that someone is presenting parts here that others are using to improve their finances?

NO, with the best will in the world, I am not jealous of that.

But I hope that they are proud of themselves and that next time they will use their heads a little and think about which posts they want to publish.

With that in mind, I wish everyone a successful printing experience.

Someone’s going to have to explain this part to me…

To me too. I am not a native English speaking guy, but i got lost in the confusion too. Does that mean that he’s being offered 15 to 15 dollars to sell this printed model or what? I don’t get it.

Edit: well, he removed all info about the website but i knew what it was because i have visited it before. Maybe his idea was to commercialize the product there. I am starting to see a pattern, lately, with some users on this forum and sometimes i feel ashamed

I took it to mean he was seeing ads for the part @fpfdesigns created when he bought Bambu reusable spools. But I don’t see ads on the Bambu site when I buy things?

I have no idea what he was talking about “manipulated to make lettering disappear”.

The first part of his post is also confusing because he said he read the post looking for a good solution to use Bambu filament refills, but he has said multiple times that he created the ultimate spool tool already.

I also don’t know if he understands that @Quietman just posted the video here, he didn’t create the video nor is he in the “Spool Buddy” affiliate marketing program.
