Bambu Studio 2.4.0.70 won't startup

BS was working fine but I got a message for extended Wondows 10 support until october 2026, so I accepted the request and there was an Windows update installed (now 22H2 build 19045.6809). After that BS is not working anymore. It freezes at the screen below.

Dutch for “Configuration is being loaded..”.

In the taskmanager BS keeps consuming some CPU but it never gets loaded. More strange is that I can’t force close it in the taskmanager and also the windows menu (bottom left menu) won’t fold out anymore and the complete system hangs when I try to reboot my computer. This is solved after a forces shutdown but when I try to start BS again it’s the same situation again.

What I already tried several times:

  1. Closed Bambu Studio completely. For good measure, reboot my machine to ensure it isn’t stuck in memory.

  2. Uninstall BS and it’s user configs. (using normal Windwos uninstall but also with Revo Uninstaller)

  3. Checked and deleted all the BambuStudio folders (AppData Roaming and Local, and the normal installation folder under %ProgramData%)

  4. Rebooted PC.

  5. Reinstalled Bambu Studio from the official site.

But the problem persists. I also turned off any VPN and Firewall without any succes.

So hopefullysomeone here knows something I can try.

Tried also an older version of BS, but result is the same.

The fact that you can no longer kill it in TM and that it affects any other part of Windows suggests a more fundamental issue regarding your system (which is triggered by BS). My guess would be something with the graphics drivers, as I’ve observed some similar behaviors with TM and Windows when I know the graphics driver has locked up or crashed (not with BS but other programs, some of them my own  ). So, my first suggestion would be to check/update/reinstall your graphics drivers. If that doesn’t fix it, I’d do a Web search specifically regarding the windows update version, your graphics card model (or Intel integrated version) and graphics driver lockups… see if anything useful comes up.

I have the exact same issue. did you manage to solve it?

I had this issue a few weeks ago. I fixed it by completely uninstalling, then downloading a reinstalling the new version.

It turns out it had to do something with the driver of my Nvidia graphic card. I reinstalled it and then Bambu Studio worked again.

So I was right, but you just ignore my post entirely? Was it not visible? Even if you had figured it out before reading my suggestion, would still be polite to say something. And maybe mark one of the posts as a solution (yours or mine) so it is more clear to future readers.

Tough crowd around here… sheesh!

You are right and I’m sorry, you gave the trigger to look for the driver. So indeed it would be polite to thank you.

Thank you
