Bambu Studio 2.7.1 - safe to install?

I’m currently on 2.6.0.51 which works ok, I keep getting prompt to update but everything I read here seems to indicate that the recent software is at best unreliable.
Whats the consensus on 2.7.1, does it work as it should or will I be reverting back again

I just posted this in the Software Forum… Version 2.7.1.57 keeps crashing on my Windows 11 and Mac. On the Mac, it doesn’t even really open anymore - it launches, but then freezes immediately. On Windows, I can only work with it to a limited extent if I don’t open the 3MF file directly, but instead just import it into a new instance.

No idea what they’ve done, but in the last two years combined, I haven’t had as many crashes as I have in the last two days.

Not that it’s much help: 2.7.1.57 on my linux unit it doesn’t seem any better or worse than the previous version.

Yeah. No.

Thanks folks, I should have mentioned I’m using Windows.

Very frustrating Dextera, I feel for you…

I was checking out the Bambu Academy and the lesson on Studio mentions you can download versions that don’t install. They are standalone and make testing easy.

If you are using windows then I would say no. I am having constant crashes when trying open it. Right my new X2D is almost a brick because I am unable to use the desktop version. I need to make edits that cannot not be done on the Handy app.

Thanks MZip, I’ll take a look later…

Oh dear Relic65, not good news again then…

2.7.1 is not crashing on my Mac, and did fix the periodic slowdown bug from the network plugin.
But your report looks a lot like a crash at launch due to a bad component (library, plugin, etc.).
I can tell you more if you post the full crash report for thread 0.

Ive deleted everything and cleared the mac, a new installation didnt solve it. I can post the whole crash report later.

I can open the app and import a 3mf - sometimes it works, but 9 out of 10 times the app does nothing. Closing didnt work either. Right Click and Close again closes the app and then the crash report appears.

On Win11 the app just crashes.

I had never any problems. Now with this version on two different OS …

Did you also remove all of the Bambu preferences and application support files?
It could be something as simple as a corrupt preferences or cache file.

But yes, the report for thread 0 should help narrow down the cause.
(don’t need all the other threads, just the crashing one)

I’ve deleted everythin I found (and AppCleaner).

Just picked up on the thread about daily tips and not being able to disable them so I think I’ll pass on this one and hope they can get it right next time.

I have to say I feel the software side of BL is it’s weak area, the exact reason I came away from Klipper and Marlin, which is very disappointing.
