Bambu Studio and filaments with saved colors

In Bambu Studio you can set a color in the filaments’ settings. I thought that if you do and then

a) select that filament in the AMS-slot and/or
b) select that filament in the “Prepare”-Tab under “Filament”

the set colors are being displayed. They are not, neither in the AMS-Slot nor in the small square next to the filament-dropdown. That means I still have to

  1. open filament settings,

  2. open chosen color dialog,

  3. copy hexcode

  4. close dialog

  5. set color in Prepare to be visible on the model and

  6. set color in the AMS-slot-settings

Why is that, is that a bug? What is the filament color setting for if not for those two purposes?

If I understood you correctly:

  • Once you have the colors in the project: That’s the color you imagined, just as you, the designer, intended the design to be. That has nothing to do with the configuration of the AMS.
  • Then the colors you specify - or rather, the ones that are actually assigned in AMS - are the ones you actually have.

Both must be considered separately. Ideally, they are the same, but they often aren’t, which is why there is the option to synchronize and map them:

No, unfortunately you misunderstood, but that might be my fault. I’ll try again:

I can set a “default color” in the settings of any filament, here:

I checked the hex code for a specific filament and entered it here, as a reference. Now my expectation would be that, if I select this filament for a model, e.g. here:

That it would automatically set the “color” to the one I have set inside the filament. Which is does not, I have to do this manually.

One is a palette, for you to create and design on the slicer freely with; the other is the physical reality of what is loaded in the machine in what bay. That screen right before you print is where you map the two together

That isn’t the screen before printing, that is the ams slot where i select the filament which I’ve put in. Still does not answer my question what the „default color“ setting in the filament settings is for if it’s not automatically set in the ams if I choose this filament… makes no sense to me.
