I’ve been through the Bambu Lab tutorial for the Studio Software which gives a good overview but not a lot of detail. I’m looking for a recommendation for a book to use as a desk reference.I’m having a hard time modifying existing models, specifically adding or changing text.
Any Suggestions for the “Best” for a beginner that also covers more advanced features?
Are those models with text added in Studio or models with text as meshes that are there before Studio even sees the model?
Text added in Studio is probably easy to modify in Studio (haven’t done it myself to know), but text that is already a mesh will need mesh-level tools to modify I believe.
There’s no book or other single source of reference as complete as the BL guides & wiki. Internet search is your friend beyond that. Keep in mind Studio shares history and features with Orca and Prusa slicers, and the original Slic3r before them, and a few other derivatives as well, but there will be differences (possibly many).
However my recommendation is don’t use the slicer for modeling. There are much better tools available (eg. MeshMixer/Blender/CAD for meshes, or any CAD for STEP files, or ideally the program that recognizes the native format the model was originally created in). As MZip said if the text was originally added in Studio (or related slicer) to begin with and you have that original 3MF project (with text as a separate object/part), then it would be much easier to modify it in Studio (click and edit). But if it’s already part of the mesh, spend the time learning real modeling tools instead. Adding new text can be relatively simple in Studio as well (select object, click text tool, type), but again if you’d like ultimate control, formatting, and precision, use a modeling tool, not a slicer.
This kind of application doesn’t really lend itself well to books. The Wiki is constantly being updated and improved, both to make itself better but also to reflect changes in Bambu Studio which are pretty frequent.
