I see a “Filament Manager” tab in Bambu Studio. I upgraded BS to 2.6.1.55 Beta on April 28, but I just noticed the tab today. Has it been there since the upgrade?

The beta status surprised me. I don’t recall Bambu Studio suggesting I upgrade to a beta release before. It’s only suggested official releases before. Did I accidentally enable beta release notification?

I’ve never tried a release → beta update. Seems odd to me to offer beta updates in a release version. Especially since the beta version user settings are stored in a separate location from the release versions. So going from release to beta the first time would be like starting from scratch with all your preferences and such. Custom profiles will only be available between the two versions if cloud sync is enabled (I guess, or manually copied).

That was it. I don’t remember checking it, but it was enabled.
Well that got me curious so I just checked and mine was checked also, I know I didnt check it, I am afraid of beta releases, so at some point it was checked by default in an update.
I checked my settings and that box was checked. I’m pretty sure I didn’t check it as I’m not the “bleeding edge” kind. I think the default install for the latest (non-beta) version automatically enables that option.
Here’s why I think that. I am using a Mac. Recently, Bambu Labs pushed out a network plug-in that wasn’t properly signed, so my Mac refused to launch Bambu Studio. Looking for a fix online, one suggestion was to delete the /Library/Application Support/BambuStudio folder. This essentially resets the program to factory defaults. I think that’s when the beta setting was enabled.
In case anyone has the same issue of a bad network plugin preventing Bambu Studio from starting, a better solution is to just delete the plugins folder inside of /Library/Application Support/BambuStudio. Bambu Studio will load the current network plugin which appears to be properly signed on start up. None of your other settings are lost.

From what I remember, when I installed the initial software (bought my first 3D printer 3 weeks ago), I seem to remember during the initial install being asked if I wanted to participate in the beta. I checked yes, expecting to receive a notification that a “New Beta” was available and I could download it at my leisure. I didn’t expect to be forced to install it, but that’s OK by me as I don’t mind being on the bleeding edge. If there is a problem, they (Bambu) will go Oops and fix it pretty quickly.

Speaking of the “Filament Management” tab, it has some generic colors that you can pick for your filaments. There is a “+” button for the addition of a custom color. When I try to create a custom color (Bone White, #E9D4B5), I cannot enter anything into the #xxxxxx field. However, if you click on the color swatch; you can add the RGB numbers (233,212,181) and get the correct color. While that is an acceptable work-around, most filament manufacturer’s provide the Hexadecimal color code. It would be nice just that enter that number and skip the intermediate step of doing an Internet search to convert the Hex to RGB. Bambu Lab, I would appreciate a fix for this oversite.
That could be it. After I deleted the Application Support folder, when I started Bambu Studio it went through the initial install prompts. Perhaps I inadvertently opted into the beta program.
