I’ve loaded a spool of Sunlu black into slot 2 of my AMS. Of course, there’s no RFID tag, so I went to device tab and defined it to black and selected Bambu Basic PLA from PA profile dropdown (preset not in list). Back on the Prepare screen, I selected my custom user preset which sets the nozzle at 215 and 1st layer at 50C. But, when I slice and print the model it reverts to PLA default temps of 220 and 45C for SuperTack plate (I’m actually using BIQU Glacier plate with similar parameters). How can I get Bambu Studio to use my user filament preset temps for this new filament brand?
Don’t choose Bambu Black, choose Generic PLA.
I found the solution, or at least a workaround. If one selects the model object, you can right-click on it and change the spool with the filament preset there. Anyway, it works. I’ll be tucking this note away for sure.
It’s not really a workaround to go into your model and select the filament you want it to print with, it will always default to what was selected when you started creating the model, what was set in the file before you imported it, or what you last set it to use for the model in the project you have open. I usually name the custom filament differently
Than the Bambu filament profile I used as a template so it’s easy to tell I selected the correct one. I also run the PA and flow calibrations on the new filament so I can easily select the right profile as well. It looks like you might not have run and saved the calibrations though, as it looks like you only have one option to select there. It’s too easy to confuse the AMS slots used when both are named Bambu Lab PLA Basic, both are black, and you can’t see the last 3 characters to differentiate them.
When you select your model you could also have hit “2” on your keyboard and it would have changed to the filament in slot 2 for your selection, along with it the profile configured for the filament in that slot.
Everything I tried did not work. I have both custom presets and custom filaments defined. If right-clicking the object allows me to select my preset and it actually uses those custom settings, I’m very happy to do that. It is absolutely a workaround that works. Thanks for the tip on pressing a number on the object to select an AMS slot, good to know…saves a step.
I found this solution in another thread where the person got this workaround directly from Bambu support. The model that I am working with was imported from printables.com and it has multiple colors for many objects, so yes, perhaps that plays into it. Thanks for your input!
