Bambu Studio settings lost on each update

I don’t use my printer every day, but I want it to work when I turn it on.

Invariably here’s what happens:

  1. Open BambuLab Studio - it wants to update
  2. Turn on printer - it wants to update
  3. Do the updates
  4. Print with PETG that I had previously dialled in perfect
  5. The print is horrible
  6. I look at my PETG settings and they have all been wiped.

Why?

Why do my settings get wiped with software updates? ( I didn’t even say yes to the profile update this time)

And why does BambuLab default to settings that are completely wrong for their own PETG?

Printing PETG at 200 - 300mm/s is just stupid.

How about some more sensible defaults?

Can’t you save those to the SD card?

No, the settings are in Bambulab and why would we want to have to save them to an SD card? Every other program just remembers your settings.

It is not really lost. BETA and STABLE use different folders to store settings.

BETA = BambuStudioBeta
STABLE = BambuStudio

You can also get settings under BambuStudioInternal if you have made those changes in the settings file, but that is intended for development use.

So, if you have just installed the latest beta after using the stable version, locate the old stable folder.

Then zip your user folder, the one with the numbers, open Bambu Studio, choose Import Settings, and select the ZIP archive from the stable folder.

By zipping the whole user folder, you do not need to import each settings folder separately. Your printers, filaments, and profiles should be restored.
