I’m new user of the Bambu Studio software for print on my X2D.
I’m running the application on Windows 11 (up to date), on a quite performant machine (64 GB ram, nVME disk, Nvidia RTX, Intel I9 CPU etc..), using for video & photography edition/post-production.
Bambu studio is up to date with official release (no beta).
When I open/close the application, slice or do a specitif operation, the application and all the computer comes very slow and hang during several seconds and all is OK after. There are not specific activity on the task manager (no CPU peak).
I have only one graphic card, so disabling it is not a solution and I didn’t see any parameter to don’t use the GPU.
I don’t have any issues with big software like Adobe suite, Davinci Resolve, Autodesk fusion.
So do you have any feedback or idea about te problem (graphic, communication with the printer) ?
When slicing or opening Bambu Studio, nothing else on my computer becomes slow. But, Bambu Studio itself is slow. Startup is slow (Orcaslicer is 3x faster), and adding lots of height range modifier layers or similar also is very slow.
I think Bambu Studio is just poorly optimized and probably have lots of heavy code running for simple tasks. However, other apps on your computer should not slow down when slicing though, as slicing is a single-threaded operation.
In windows 11 BS had normal priority by default and in display settings it was also not optimised.
Go Task manager > Details Tab >
Find bambustudio.exe, right click, select High Priority.
Go Start Menu > Type ‘Graphics Settings’, find ‘Custom settings for applications’, and add bambustudio.exe, then expand the bambustudio.exe dropdown and select ‘High performance’.
This absolutely boosted slicing times for my very complex models, which were previously taking close to 1 minute, which was TEDIOUS when trying to get supports and adaptive layer height dialed in.
If you use Fusion360 or similar, you might want to do the same with that program.
