I know this has been discussed before, but we are now in version 2.5 and the Z axis is driving me crazy. How does having Z=0 in the middle of an object make any sense? 0 should be on the plate.
Let’s say I have an object that is 2.4 inches high, and I want to place a text of 1.2 on top of it, so that the first layer is embedded in the print. Let’s say I am printing with 0.06 line.
So in my scenario, if Z=0 were on the plate, I put the object at z=0 and the text at z=2.34. Simple.
But as it is, i have to do some math, and I am super tired of all the divisions and additions that are required for something that should be very simple.
Agreed, placing text on an object was very straight forward about a year ago. Later revisions of Studio complatly changed the process.
I do not have an AMS so my process for placing text on a part to be printed face down used to be:
Select the part you want to add text to be printed
Rotate the plate to look through the plate to see the bottom of the part
Select you font, size etc
Set font height to 0.40mm and embed it 0.4mm (this reduces manual color swaps to just two)
Type you text to be added
move the text into position on the bottom of the part (rotate, etc to get the orientation correct)
slice and print
Now, it is a monkey dance of trial and error with height of the text relative to the plate and the part, height of the text, etc. trying to get it so there is only two layers printed of the text. It never seems to work the same way twice.
I have said many times that Bambu needs a better vetting process when releasing software/firmware updates. I never automatically update anything anymore until I see what problems others find with the update.
Since we are talking about text, there is a font rendering problem in the newer update. It took me a while to figure out what was happening, but it seems to be a bug with spacing. Discussion linked below.
As for Z, I just made myself an excel cheat sheet, because I was tired of all the math I had to do every time.
