Bambulab A1 and AMS HT - Filament change during printing

Hi everyone,
I’ve connected an AMS HT to my Bambu A1 because I usually only print in one color and want to keep the filament dry. Also, feeding the filament is much easier.

Now, I wanted to change the color in one of the print jobs, but I wasn’t able to.

First, I added a second filament in the slicer and I was able to select “Change Filament” for the layer.
But the A1 didn’t stop so I could change the filament.

After that, instead of selecting “Change Filament”, I selected “Add Pause” for the layer. Now, the A1 did stop, but I couldn’t unload the loaded filament. The menu item was grayed out.

Is it not possible to change the filament during printing with the AMS HT, or what am I doing wrong?

I am having the same issue with AMS HT on my Bambu P1S. Is there a solution for this?

Apparently not yet.
However, I’ve discovered that you can change colors using the external spool.

  • Insert a pause in the slicer
  • First, print with filament in the AMS (Automatic Print Management System)
  • When the printer pauses, select the “load” function in the external spool menu (the filament in the AMS will be retracted)
  • Insert the filament from the external spool
  • Resume printing

Same here on p2s. Changing filament manually is such a hassle, so I picked up the AMS-HT for easy swapping during pauses. I’m completely baffled as to why I can’t change the spool in the AMS-HT
