Bambulab - whats wrong with you ? Why?

Since several days i try now to buy ! An spare part for an defective power switch on an x1c. The printer looses power all the time and the switch makes crackling noises. Even if i told the support i simple like to buy this part - i didnt want it for free - this go over days and days and days. I hope somebody from bambulab read this too. In its actual state with this fault the printer is simply an fire hazard. And you bambulab turn arround and arround and arround it seems you simply dont want to sell me this spare part. But it is ok. I throw away the machine then and replace the next bambu with and prusa. And bambulab team - you can be sure i hand over this device with this issue to the german authorieties, to check for the fire hazard. We will see then what they say. I am really pissed of of you bambu guys. The x1c was an awesome machine. But your support is simply one thing - terrible. With best regards, Michael

Michael, message SupportAssistant the ticket number so they can help on their end but in the meantime you can also try this:

  1. Unplug the printer
  2. Take the back panel off
  3. Make sure the crimped connectors are all pushed firmly on to the back of the power switch assembly.

Here’s the whole step by step to get you to that point.

You probably don’t need to replace the assembly, there’s a good chance that one of the connectors has vibrated loose.

Interestingly - Is it not strange that there is a wiki article on how to replace but spares not available ? Also check the fuse holder spring.
I assume it is there as Bambulab can supply a spare.
Is the P1S (i do not have) the same ?

It is strange, and I tried to find it in the store before I posted because I swear it used to be available. 3rd party stores are selling it as part #FAC054.

I’m pretty sure the one you linked is the same switch so I’m not sure why they list it as only being compatible with the P2 series.

@PrinterMcgee
BambuLab tend to standardise where possible - as most manufacturers do.
If there is anyone out there who can confirm it is the same it would be appreciated. SupportAssistant ?

Well i think they like to force people this way to their newer models. But for me it wont work. The x1c was an right tool. An really workhorse, but the newer ones are more toys. To much errors, to complex, not reliable. I see it at the a1 - there i have three too - from this three at least in minimum one is offline due to new defects. The x1cs simply run. The p2s is not nearly as good as the x1c - therefore no option for me, and the h2 series is for business purposes simply not reliable enough, the head is way to complex for easy maintenance. The newest two printers i bought was therefore two prusa core one. Personally i wanted to keep my x1cs alive. But things like this is simply one more reason to take bambu completely out. Bay the way - the cables are fine. It is the switch. The case number i already sended here over private message. Still no answer for the simple question where to buy the power switch.

The switch on the P1S includes the cables BUT if the switch fits the X1C then it is a good result. You do not have to use the cables.

BTW X1C is a great product.

Yes they’re the same, P1S, P2S or X1C. I think even the cables are the same, don’t know why BL doesn’t list them together

Possibly because the P1S is RED and lighted when on. This one (P2S) is black and doesn’t appear to be lighted? Sounds like a weak reason but it wouldn’t surprise me.

Other choices depending on where you are.

Problem is here - shpuld be the identical part. It has something to do with insurance. I am an learned electrician. Whwn i swap parts with parts not originally meant to be for this machine, and there is any fault, maybe not even with this part, insurance could maybe decline payments.

Don’t buy some random from amazon. This is a standard part and you can find a certified part from a reputable manufacturer. For example https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/qualtek/723W-BEL3BR51A/23019209

Ok. Thanks to all write an answer here and tried to help. Saldy bambulab remained in silence. This bambu guy writed here dont answered to anymore. Therefore i made an decision. The printer goes today at 9 o clock to the bundesnetzagentur, marktĂĽberwachung. Sorry i dont know how to write this in english. I was really surprised bambu refuse here to help an sell an simple spare part even if the printer without is an fire hazard. After this i scrap the printer. The waiting time and time to try communicate wirh bambu costs me more money then simply buy an new prusa core one. And exactly for this i go this step. This is not an minor issue. When the authorities see here an issue too, then bambu has to answer. And eventually call back the printers for repair. Bambu is out for me. I cant rely for my business on an company refuses spare parts for an machine only an little bit older then two years.

Surely that is bad economics to scrap your X1C for the cost of 12 euros.
Buy the P1S switch from BambuLab Europe and your production will benefit.

Just an fyi to anyone who cares, power switches are switching current flows. When you open the contacts, the way transformers in power supplies work, the current being interrupted tends to cause a voltage spike that then causes arcing in the switch that is opening the circuit. The best way to make that arcing sustain and erode the contact surfaces is by opening the switch slowly. Snap it open quick and the arcing is minimized.

The issue is pitted and nasty contacts from arcing don’t tend to make good low resistance connections which can then cause temperature issues in the switch. Lower voltage to the power supply means it pulls more current to do the same job which just makes arcing worse the next time the switch opens. More arcing means more resistance and so on as the switch heads to failure.

Once they start crackling consistent, probably good to replace and especially if the switch starts feeling warm.

I’m having the same issue with the same part and the same horrible customer service. I’m on day 9 of an open ticket and the rep will only send one response a day, so it took 4 days of back and forth before they said mine wasn’t under warranty. Then they said they don’t sell these so I will need to buy from a dealer and they would set up a PO. 3 days and 3 “where is my PO” later…. still nothing. This is my first technical issue with 1 of my 3 machines and the customer experience has been horrible. I’m seriously considering selling mine and switching to Snapmaker myself. Ridiculous.

Just a heads up, snapmaker support is no better. The u1 is awesome though. Pretty much all the printer companies in that area, have crap support. Prusa is the only printer company I’ve had a good support experience with.
