Banding on Print

Hi All,

I occasionally get these banding lines when I print an object (see picture). Does anyone have any sense of what causes this? Thanks.

it’s the type of curvature of the model, you can reduce layer height and that will improve (but never really go away on those soft curves), it will increase the print times considerably however if you really go for low layer heights

Those are layers and are the nature of the technology. Even though we call this 3D printing it should really be called 2.5 printing. The layers are deposited like layers on a topographic map. You could mitigate this in two ways, change the layer height to something finer such as 0.08 vs the default of 0.28. That will greatly improve the appears but you will still have layers, there is no way around it other than post-processing(sanding and fillers).

Here is an example. Model on the left is 0.28 layer height while the model on the right is 0.08 layer height.

Got it. I suspected it had something to do with the model’s curvature. I will try the reduced layer height. Thank you both for the advice.
