I’m curious… do you need to do a calibration and bed levelling before every single print?
I need to print 109 leaves for a lamp, there are 4 leaves for each plate, each plate takes 1 hr 26 min….
Do I need to bed level and calibrate every single time or can I just do it 4 or 5 plates?
I could save myself some time… but is it worth it?
Every 4 or 5 prints I scrub the plate and thought I could just bed level and calibrate then…
No, if the plate and filament are the same you can try and run a plate without doing either of those, and if it works why not continue?
When I run large jobs I calibrate once and never again.
That is what I was thinking…
And the loss if it fails is only 31g of filament at the most

I’m so new to this I just let my P2S do its thing. The color sequence is a bit much at times, seems like a lot of poops. The leveling gives me a good feeling that things are good. But the poop when it is the same color is wasteful, IMO.
I wish CarbonForge would elaborate on how to make those changes. It would help a Newby like me. 
If you are printing with a lot of colour changes and there is a lot of poop you can print into an object and make a fidget toy. It is actually rather easy and there are some really good tutorials. I’ll find one for you to try.
I was trying to find the model. It was just a figurine I wanted to try printing from the online Models. My first attempt at a multi color model.
When it was done, I had a warning about the poop chute. It had made a pile that backed up from the poop can I’d made for my P2S up until the printer apparently alarmed. The figurine was done, and I pulled the box and emptied it. But it is not a small catch can.
I just thought it was rather excessive pooping. 
The Mini Jesus came out real nice though. 
While I’m bending your ear, do you know how I can post a picture in a post? I have two on my phone that was requested by “Badger” on my thread I started. Seems he didn’t believe I can print in Ludacris speed, and wants a picture. I haven’t found how to post any.

If you click on reply there is an upload button next to the bullet list… that is where you upload pics from a PC.
Drag a picture file into the Reply box, or paste an image from your clipboard. A good screen-capture utility and copy/paste make picture posting easy.
I run bed leveling auto calibration, once a day, if that. In general, the calibration doesn’t change a noticeable amount while the machine is stationary and regularly in use.
Well you don’t need to all the time it saves about 5 minutes if you don’t just do it on startup
I disagree with the responses on this. The build platform sits on a set of springs. When you pull the plate off, you compress and extend those springs a little. There is friction, and the possibility that stresses that have built up from the previous print due to heating might be relieved. The platform may or may not end up in exactly the same spot it was in before, when you replace the build plate. The delta would be small, but if you ran a dial indicator across the plate it is probably going to show changes.
I let the printer do the leveling each time. Yeah, it takes a bit longer to run the job, but I know if I disturbed the platform it’ll be levelled-out. Ultimately, it’s less time than having to restart if the first layer fails because leveling is out of whack…
I think you have a good point. If I take the plate off then yes, I can imagine there is a lot of disruption.
Most of these prints for this project have been 21 minutes and I never take the plate off.. They are thin leaves and I just peel them off. I need 109 leaves for the lamp and there are only 4 or 5 to a plate depending on the style… and I am printing 2 lamps so I actually need 218 leaves…. lol… I sometimes felt that the bed levelling was longer than the print.
I did turn the bed levelling off for a while and found no problems but turned it back on after removing the plate for cleaning.
