Being able to block users

can a blocked user still see our models ?

As they didn’t specifically state it, I imagine they can still see your models.

Hiding models from what a user can see because they may appear in zero or more block lists would be a taxing database query unless they originally designed the system around this ability.

The ability to stop interactions is far easier to manage as it becomes a one-to-one check over very few records vs a many-to-many check across potentially ten of thousands or more records.

This further makes me think it is not part of the latest update.

I would like to see them confirm it either way though.

i dont see why it would be harder to manage. facebook does the same very easily. twitter and tiktok all other plateforms do it. I believe that people that you think that are doxing or copying you also should not have the rights to see the files we dont want to share with them… of course they can always make another account but at the same time it limits so of them same way as Id like to have it as other platforms

Have you seen the size of facebook’s datacenterS They’re all over and comprise 100’s of thousands of square footage and have thousands upon thousands of servers. Not to mention Meta has a market cap of over 1 trillion dollars… Saying it’s easy for BBL because FB does it is like saying it’d be easy for Uncle Bob to build a 797F Dump truck (1.375M pounds and carries 400 tons) because Catepillar can do it. .

if you say so my friend… nothing else to add

I’ve said this before: if a user can be banned from seeing other users’ models, it will especially help the copiers.
They can then publish a copy of YOUR design and block you at the same time - then you won’t even notice that someone has copied your design.

Good point, and well made.

There are also users who are known for volunteering their time to report such models. If users can be blocked from seeing models, these known volunteers will be the first ones to be blocked by scammers.

Well @Makerworld,

also my Email account can block users by one click, there even some list were you can add spammers to a little bit bigger… so-called Global Anti-Spam Lists. And if a few do this, your existing users who would like the messages may also be affected - But for sure I do not need or ever will register to Makerworld to unsubscript my Email account from e.G. “Models of the week”.

If you start Spamming, make sure persons do not need to register to makerword to stop any subscription Emails out of Makerworld. The way to get blacklist is very short…
