Hi,
I’d like to ask what material you would recommend as a contact/interface material when printing with ASA? The support itself will be entirely made from ASA—that’s probably the quickest solution—but what material would you use for the final contact layer?
PETG comes to mind, but I’m worried it might stick too much to the ASA.
I tried PETG and PVA first, but with a chamber temp. of 60-65°C id didn’t work that well. I then tested the support material for ABS and ASA form BL and it’s fantastic. I won’t use anything else for these materials. Give it a try!
“Support for ABS” (HIPS) works the best as breakaway supports for ABS and ASA. You can also use PA6-GF or PAHT-CF (Nylon) as it does not bond to ABS or ASA.
Hands down HIPS. The slicer will whine about printing medium temp filaments with high temp, but you can just ignore it.
Here is the exact stuff I’m using, and I just use BL studio default ‘generic HIPS’ profile.
