Custom support interface filament is an awesome feature, but i am frustrated that this only really works well if there are only few flat interfaces. It does not work well if there is a great number of support points, due to the excessive number of filament changes.
The feature’s lack of fine-grained control makes it work with one hand tied behind its back - it could be even more useful than it currently is.
What would help is a setting like, “use the support interface filament only if the area to be supported is at least 5 square millimeters” or “use the special support interface filament only if this support layer overall is at least 0.1g of filament” - whatever metric is available in the slicer.
Alternative: Manually paint on the model which support interface filament is to be used for maximal customization. This could then identify a certain layer which then is supported with the custom filament (in all places that need to be supported on that layer.)
That way one could avoid needless filament changes for very small supports
Ideally one would be able to also have custom interface settings then. Custom z offset and interface spacing for the special interface filament, normal values for the default filament.
226 filament changes - most of those supports really didn’t need the special interface filament. There were just a handful of support interfaces that really needed it.
(yeah i know the orientation of that model wasn’t ideal…it was just for illustration purposes)

I can relate to this issue, Jens. The lack of fine-grained control makes using a custom support interface filament inefficient for prints with many small supports. A threshold setting based on area or filament usage would help minimize unnecessary filament changes. Manual painting for interface use would also be a great way to add flexibility for complex models. Hopefully, this is something the slicer developers will consider adding in future updates.
