Better LAN Only Mode Support

Current support for LAN only mode is not great and can be very frustrating to use. This becomes a big pain when working in environments where the nature of work is secrete and devices like Bambu printers must be taken off the main network and put on a vLan so they cannot access the internet. Some of the things I would like to see done are.

Better syncing of custom filament
Currently I must disconnect the printer from there wired network, attached them and my laptop to my phone hotspot, attach the printers to my profile and then sync the material over, I then have to undo all this, put them back into LAN only mode.

Better connection to LAN printers
With the above come then problems connecting to the printers, I then need to sign out my account on the laptop, connect to the printers, exit the software, load it back up and sign in hoping this will connect fine, I normal find this need to be done a couple of times before I can connect to both printers without and “failed to connect to printer” errors.

X1E File Storage/Time-lapse
On our H2D Pro we can view prints save to the printer and time-lapse, this feature works great but on the X1E this dose not work and I would really like to see it added.

Bambu Print Farm Manager
I would very much like to see the print farm manager getting a update to it so it can be used in a fully offline LAN only mode, this for one would be a great benefit for company’s which have to run printers fully offline.

API Feature
I would like to see an API feature added, this might be part of bambu print farm manager but because I cant use it as it communicate back to the cloud I don’t know. We have an ulimaker s7, it has an API in it where I can pull print history from it, this is great for KPI’s in company which feed into usage and do we have enough printers to keep up with current work. Something like this would be handy on the enterprise/business printers like the X1E and H2D Pro.

Absolutely support this!

And I can add every new device should have wired LAN only mode. Even if external/additional adapter may be purchased/added.

Then Bambu Studio should allow all profiles and settings to be directly synced to the printer. As explained above.

  1. May I ask how many times you need to change the network a printer is on? Are they not setup just once?

  2. Is the printer really offline if it’s connected via a phone hotspot? Do you have a specially secured phone? If your things are both secret and important, it’s not unknown for “enemies” to specifically target the personal devices of individuals responsible for them,.

  1. Yes they are setup once, but when I’m using a new material, update the firmware I then need to change there network setup to be able to do this as its not supported in LAN mode. Yes it may not be done loads of time but its enough to be a pain, this is really basic stuff which a lot of other printer support.
  2. So the things on the printer are not a problem, they are our design and not secret or important. Both printers are set in a offline mode on a network which can’t access the internet. Again if Bambu supported material syncing over LAN mode it wouldn’t be a problem, but to do this I then need to I unplug the network cable so it is not on the network. Connect them to my phone to sync the materials.

Well I hope Bambu fixes this.

But they aren’t the best company at supporting things like LAN mode vs their proprietary clouds.
