I’d love to see the SD card in my printer used for storing even more metadata about the prints I do.
99% of the time I run prints through Bambu Studio or Orca Slicer, or occasionally from Bambu Handy (though the fact it lacks most finetuning options means I’m less likely to use it). With every print, the GCode is sent to the printer, with a thumbnail, and… that’s it.
I for one would love to have the full 3MF project file, with all its current settings, defaults, etc. attached to each print. This would allow easy retrieval of old models (which one might lose, as organising these files is cumbersome at this moment, given 3MF does not yet support versioning in itself). Furthermore, 3MF can also contain, among other things, the GCode generated for the specific model and settings! So the printer could easily extract that for printing, while keeping the project details available and easily retrievable.
