So after 200 hours of printing on my new P2S I decided to change the nozzle for a 0.2mm one to do some fine detail. On removing the sock filament had built up inside and gone all crusty. When I came to open the hotend clip the metal flap part on the left was stuck to the hotend, so I decided to use a flat screwdriver to give it a little persuasion. It snapped all too easy in my opinion. In hindsight I should of heated the hotend slightly but thought the metal was made of better stuff. Maybe the metal with multiple heat cycles had become brittle. Anyways the lesson here no matter how much filament is stuck to your clip and mine was not much once I removed the crusty bit, is to always heat the hotend. The repair was a whole new hotend assembly, ouch.
I’m confused. If the clip broke why not just replace the heating element?
That’s what he meant, the heating element is called Hotend Heating Assembly in the shop.
Given the clip (both elements) can be damaged easily, bambu would be wise to provide just the clip as a spare part.
I guess I misunderstood.
If Bambu did just offer the clip would it be in stock. Been trying to get the P2S silicone socks for ages but always seem to be out of stock when I come to order something.
No, just the heating element. For the sock you may consider a 3rd party from AliExpress.
