BIQU Frostbite Plate - First Layer Squishing & Lifting

Hi all,

I’ve been using the BIQU Glacier plate on my P1S for about a couple of months now with great success. Large prints hold nicely, and the base layer comes out clean every time. I recently purchased the Frostbite plate to see if it could improve the bed adhesion on my A1 Mini. It has not been for the reasons listed below.

I am designing a poker-sized card holder for a game I am creating. The two problems I have run into are: the corners lift, and the base layer creates a small brim.

I have attempted to solve the lifting corners by cleaning the bed with hot, soapy water, adding ears to the corners, and adjusting the initial layer bed temp. None of these normal solutions is working for me.

I have attempted to solve the brimming initial layer by manually changing the Z offset in the machine g-code in .02 increments. -.04, and -.06, had no noticeable improvements in the brimming effect. I have tweaked my initial layer width as well, with no visible change.

I have tried using the PEI textured plate setting, as well as the Cool Plate SuperTack. Neither yielded improvements to this problem.

If you have any suggestions on what has worked for you, please share!

Use mouse ears and adjust elephants foot.

I’d explain but I don’t see the point.

You mention that you tried negative z offsets. Your nozzle is already starting too close to the bed based off your elephants foot/squished first layer, you don’t want it any closer, this is working against you. Use positive.

My cool plates on a1 home well, I’d be a little concerned that yours isn’t. Have you checked the 3+4 screws on the black heatblock of the toolhead? They become chronically untight and foul z leveling, common a1 leveling problem.

if you want a good plate that makes perfectly flat prints, use the cool supertrack plate. it would still have the brim issue thing though
