I just received my 40W laser and installed my birdseye camera. I’m running into this error when trying to setup the birdseye camera:
“ Toolhead camera calibration failed.
Please ensure the Calibration Marker on the heatbed or Height Calibration
Marker on the homing area is clean and undamaged, then re-run the calibration process.
[0c00-4041 143123]
40W”
I’ve tried:
Re-running my vision encoder calibration successfully
Upgrading and downgrading my firmware
Resetting to factory defaults
Cleaning the nozzle, chassis, and tool head camera multiple times
Cleaned the entire printer thoroughly and confirmed no smudges
Confirmed the calibration stickers on the heatbed are not damaged and not dirty
I opened a support case but figured I would post here in case anyone else ran into this issue?
What you describe is very typical of a situation where the system does not have a clear line of sight to the reference surface during the Birdseye calibration. For the calibration to work correctly, the build plate must be removed so that the camera can see the patterns and markers on the bare bed; otherwise, these camera‑related errors can occur even though the hardware itself appears to be functioning normally.
Could you please confirm whether you performed the Birdseye calibration with the build plate removed, as specified in the manual, or if the plate was still installed during your attempts?
Thank you so much for your reply and taking the time to help me! For all of these attempts, I have not been using any type of build plate. The square patterns are fully exposed. I made sure to thoroughly clean and ensure there were no traces of smudging or anything along those lines. Every time it fails in the same spot, which is at that calibration sticker near the top right of the heated bed. The sticker to me looks intact though, and there isn’t a hint of it being dirty. I am happy to try anything to get this fixed.
One additional thing that might be worth checking is the orientation and placement of the calibration sticker/marker on the bed. There is at least one documented case where laser calibration repeatedly failed until the user discovered that the micro LiDAR calibration sticker had been applied in the wrong orientation from the factory; after removing it and rotating it 180 degrees, the calibration completed successfully and the laser functioned as expected.

Given that your Birdseye calibration consistently fails when the toolhead passes over the calibration sticker near the top right of the heated bed, it might be a similar situation: the sticker can look clean and intact, but if it is slightly misaligned or rotated, the camera/LiDAR may not be able to recognize the pattern correctly. I would recommend having support double‑check both the orientation and exact positioning of that calibration marker as a potential root cause.
I’m about to file a support ticket for the same issue. Printer arrived 4 days ago, laser module 2 days ago Even tried to reseat the ribbon cable to the birdseye cam, to no avail.
Any update? I’ve just run into the same issue after doing the H2D>H2C upgrade and attempting to use the cutter/laser for the first time since. Normal 3D printing has been working fine for over week and all standard calibrations have passed.
I’ve disassembled the toolhead and replaced the toolhead camera with the one on my H2D toolhead and the error persists.
I wanted to share the fix for mine sooner but came down with an absolutely awful illness. Anyways, hopefully this fixes it for you guys. See Bambu’s response below. In my case, step 2 seemed to fix it. I went as far to completely unplug the camera cable from the tool head side. It’s weird visually nothing changed but perhaps the cable was a bit lose or it’s positioning was off ever so slightly.

We suspect that the toolhead camera is misaligned.
This could be due to the internal camera module within the toolhead camera housing being displaced, or the entire toolhead camera may need to be reinstalled.
The following checks will help us confirm and resolve the issue.
1. We kindly ask you refer to the attached video tutorial to remove the toolhead camera housing.
If it is, before adjustment, we kindly ask you take a picture and send it to us for confirmation. You can then try adjusting the camera module to be flush with the housing.
2. If there is no misalignment, we recommend reinstalling the entire toolhead camera as described in the wiki to see if it resolves the problem.
Interesting…Do you still have the video on removing the camera housing? Though I’m not convinced this is my issue as I have tried two toolhead cameras. The one that came with the Vortek upgrade and the original from my H2D and both have the same issue. The H2D camera had no issues before the H2C upgrade.
Just an update:
I’ve taken apart one of my toolhead camera and the lens alignment looks fine. I suppose next check is alignment of the camera but I’ve refitted that twice since the original error.
I have also ordered a replacement calibration sticker whilst waiting on support.
I believe the toolhead camera is used during a high precison nozzle calibration and that is passing fine. I suppose it could be a software bug, I wonder how many people have done both the H2D laser upgrade and Vortek upgrade?

That is weird but does sound similar to what my issue was! My vision encoder plate was also working fine that seemed to use the same camera. I know this is a dumb question but did you unplug and reseat the camera connector cables? That’s the only other part of everything I did. I didn’t come from a Vortek upgrade though - mine was H2C stock.
Well having disassembled everything on the toolhead and put it back together I’m still nowhere. Support havent been very useful yet, the usual reseat the camera, check the connectors etc.
I ordered a replacement calibration sticker and that didnt help either.
Im having the exact same issue with my h2c after installing the laser upgrade kit. I plan to try everything mentioned above but before that, i will also try to use a lamp or a flashlight to increase the contrast around the sticker during the calibration process.
I can’t verify what I did was OK until I get a firmware upgrade on my H2C but I installed the BE camera anyway. When I installed it, I at least tried 4 times before I could definitely hear it click in place, my first 3 attempts seemed OK but I never managed to seat it properly until then.
My issue was solved by moving up the laser module 2mm from the lowest position before clamping. The calibration went successfully for the birdseye camera. Then I re-clamped the laser head at lowest position and did the laser initial calibration without issue.
Hope it helps someone with the same error message.
I’m also experiencing the same issue after my H2D → H2C conversion. I’m probably going to try to switch the toolhead camera with the one from the H2D toolhead when I have a chance. Trying to shift the laser module up by a couple of mm didn’t seem to help in my case.
Currently I’ve received this same error but with a H2S (10w) setup. I submitted a ticket recently (2/13/26) and I’m awaiting time to send my video response triggering the error.
Based on my scenario, running the “Laser Module Setup Calibration” which only reads & calibrates the laser module toolhead to the Laser Build Platform. I noticed the platforms QR code (Next to the Laser Focal Pad) had a weird coating on it like a hard film. I’ve only cut basswood & acrylic then engraving some metal tags so the build up shouldn’t be worse than the laser maintenance cleaning alarm. So after wiping it with a simple lint-free cloth I could see it was sort of “Cloudy” and not clear/smooth like the vision encoder plate for example. I kept receiving the alarm UNTIL I busted out the “Polishing Compound” used for restoring headlight lenses. Since it’s a fine grade polish it wouldn’t hurt the QR label, after doing that (2 times) rubbing with a simple cloth and dry wiping to polish the QR label was shiny & crystal clear again.
BOOM, that eliminated the error immediately. So just that has me thinking R&D didn’t think prolonged use of certain materials could affect the label’s clarity even though you wipe it each use.. I feel this label should be a metal tag more so for much more resistance against the elements, just a FYI.
My ending point is ensure the QR label on the laser platform is clear NOT cloudy, I will bank on that simply being the issue.
The current issue is that the green laser line is close to the edge of the camera’s field of view. Either component needs adjustment so that the green laser is positioned more centrally within the yellow camera view.

There were no notes as to how i was supposed to adjust either component but by looking at the photo i realised if i raised the laser module this would move the yellow line further to the right. I went too high to start with and got an error saying it wasnt clamped. i kept dropping it until the error went away and then it calibrated ok.
Support say this is just to calibrate the birds eye camera and I can drop the laser down now and it won’t affect laser calibration.
