while printing there was a problem and it caused a blob that damaged around the hotend,
im pretty sure i need to replace:
hotend cooling fan,
hotend heating assembly,
part cooling fan,
do i need to replace something else? can you help me understand if there is something else to replace?
Wow, up thru the backing plate!
Grip the top of the toolhead near the extruder motor
Attempt to gently wiggle/pivot it by rotating it towards you. You do not need to use much force.
Still solid?
If there’s a pivot wiggle, you may want to consider replacing the carriage or just its bearing (dont have a mini, but im assuming thats what they call the part that slides on the x rail, behind the cream plastic block)
Thank you for your response,
it feels solid and is not wiggling\pivoting at all, I don’t think the X rail was damaged by the blob — I probably just noticed it now while inspecting the A1 Mini for any issues.
It looks like the linear bearing (I think that’s what it’s called?) is slightly melted but i don’t know what caused it (Maybe it just got worn out over time? )
I think you’ll be fine with your current plan. Good luck! If that nozzle isn’t bent (compare to the new one) you can probably save that pretty easily with some heat, a good glove, and some determination.
And, not to rub salt in a wound, but remember to clean your build plate, unsticking is the primary cause of blobs ![]()
Okay, thank you for the help.
i will never skip cleaning the plate anymore after this blob ![]()
