Blocked nozzle - advice

hi

I got a brand new x1c nozzle assembly the other week.

The new nozzle was not flowing correctly with PLA.

I did a filament extraction with a 1.5mm hex key however its still blocked about 2cm up from tip.

I heated the nozzle to 250 deg c and inserted a acupuncture needle into from both top and bottom but the needle is not going threw the nozzle.

Rather than just binning it, I was going to try to drill down into the nozzle to try to clear it.

Is it 2mm all the way down except for the tip ?

Hi,

Sometimes it takes time, and I know that it isn’t a comfortable process to be pushing and pulling in a nozzle at 250ºC. But if something is stuck there, eventually it will come out in the process.

Concerning the 2mm, you are likely correct, as it is the standard. But I wouldn’t expect a constant diameter of up to 2 cm of the tip. If you are into drilling, go with a diameter below 1.5mm.

thanks, i was going to have another go at it today with hot allen key extraction. seemed to have hit a dead end on that. my needle would not pass through at all.

tried to drill it with a 1.5mm drill, all I am getting is metal shavings coming out. Depth of drill is around the heatbreak. Think is toast the hotend.

Did that new hot end ever extrude properly? Maybe it was a lemon from the start and you can open a ticket asking for a warranty replacement…

yes i did and I have replacement in transit.
