Boost System-- Frequently Asked Questions

as i said “make the system worse!” always works, optimize here, optimize there and in the end only confusion and annoyance comes out

Someone whose specialty is lightboxes needs to make a “Boost Me!” model with the twitch colored rocket :raised_hands:t4:

After making a couple I have zero interest in making anymore lol

I’m with you on this one. I’ve only had my P1S for about a month (and had a MW account for just as long) and I am still learning the ropes. I’ve uploaded a few, simple models, and downloaded a bunch more. When I started seeing the boost tokens appear, for me to give out, it’s like they’re burning a hole in my pocket. I understood what they were for, and I give them to designers whose models I’ve printed, that printed well and did the job better than all the other similar models. I went through three or four AMS “Y” splitters before finding the “perfect” one, and I boosted the snot (I couldn’t use the word I wanted to say) out of it. On a related note, I want to redeem some points (Benchy outboard motors) but I’m not really sure how it works (I want to get a couple motors), can I order, i.e. redeem points for multiple kits at the same time and pay one shipping fee, or get them one at a time and pay shipping for each? There just isn’t that much information, that I’ve been able to find. It seems that you can’t ask Bambu Labs s simple question without opening up a support ticket, and none of the available categories apply. Such is life.

Boosts have potential, I’m kind of deflated by the constantly changing goal posts though. I’ll still use the ones I get wisely (thats if I’m not shadowbanned for upsetting them lol) and graciously accept any thrown my way.

On your sidenote, I have little clue as to the shipping involved for your kits but would assume its a flat rate per order like filament etc.

BOOST OUR MODELS @MAKERWORLD lol

-It’s the actual duration the printer spends on printing a specific model.
-In theory, if your actual print time surpasses 60 minutes, and you’ve printed two separated models, you qualify to receive Boost Tokens to distribute. However, we strongly advise against intentionally prolonging the print time to meet this particular requirement, as we will take steps to ascertain whether a user is doing so or not.
-For a multi-plate project to fulfill this particular requirement, at least one plate must have a print time of 60 minutes or more.
-No, it won’t
-Once you qualify, there will be no additional steps required to receive the Boost Tokens. The Boost Tokens should be released shortly for immediate use.
Thanks for your concern

You can add multiple coupon codes to the same order, it’s not limited to one (like on printables).
Order over 50€ have free shipping (expected for printers/AMS I think).

Kit coupons are a 99% reduction. So it will be harder to get reach the amount for the free delivery. So depends that you want to buy, sometimes it’s better to buy them with a 40€ coupon instead.

This is a good idea, as it lowers the chance of someone trying to game the long print time by adding additional walls to the model for the sake of getting above the hour threshold.

The one hour per a print requirement doesn’t seem all that bad. So like 2 hours of printing within a week time frame? That’s peanuts. Although I can understand sometimes it’s hard to find things one wants to print.

We’re all designer types, so I think we have a skewed perspective when we look at things. I mean, shoot, I haven’t printed anything off of Makerworld this past week, as all my 3d printing has been focused around some new designs, and the couple things I went looking for, I ended up designing my own.

Looking back at the work I post up though. I think very little of it is actually printable under a hour. Like I said, we’re designers, but I think for end users that aren’t designers, hitting that 2 hour print time per a week isn’t all that crazy. Looking at featured and trending, not a lot of simple quick prints.

Just wanted to share a few thoughts on that point.

I keep coming back to the POV of the non-creator users of MW, which I presume are the majority of users. There’s no compelling reason for most of this group to think too much about earning or giving Boosts or even ratings. Especially since one can just download without even logging in :eyes:

It doesn’t impact them much whether they receive Boosts to give, or if they give them out before expiry. Sure the initial 2 that comes with a BL printer they might give since it’s there, but I don’t think they’ll worry too much about subsequent ones.

It’s not far fetched to say the uncertainties for creators are increasing, with more and more considerations to tackle :face_with_spiral_eyes:

As a newer user to the site, I’ve been having a lot of trouble with figuring out how to receive boosts to give to artists I like. I want to, but unsure how to get them as someone who is not great at creating my own 3d works. And reviewing prints we’ve done doesn’t seem to do anything? Possibly because my husband downloads the prints on his account, but I think it should be more understandable in some way.

@AngelApple
Those are the lastest informations given by Makerworld on the matter.

I don’t understand how regular (non-creator) users who just print stuff are supposed to be incentivized to use boost tokens. Or, why they would even log in and contribute to the statistics that we see.

You really hit that nail on the head - didn’t you!

I think MW doesn’t know yet what the finale rules should be. How the boost tokens are earned is part of the adjustment.

That’s because they are trying to figure out how the system can be gamed and keep adjusting the rules.

“you have to print 2 items, 1 hour each, max of 3 walls, min20% infill, between the hours of 2-9pm UST on the 2nd Tuedsay of each month, then all users meeting that criteria will be entered in a raffle that will be held on the 1 month after a blue moon has occurred”

If think about it… 2hour print not much… like 50g of filament… and giving $1 boost token for that

1000 / 50 = 20. so $20.

so basically if everyone just printed enough for boosts they would nearly be given out what it costs of course people print more than that in week.

I still believe best way to give boost is from sales though. e.g 1 per filament sale would be like the 50-80g worth given away each sale.

Where does this come from. I don’t understand ^^`

50g ~ $1

1kg / 50g = 20

Hence $20
